Available in a collectable pop tin. Rock 'n 70s is a cheap looking, seemingly randomly selected ten-song collection that actually manages to defy the odds and be a nice little disc. It isn't a definitive look at the world of '70s rock but it does stray outside the usual choices and bring in tunes as interesting as Nick Lowe's "Cruel to Be Kind," Billy Swan's "I Can Help" and Redbone's "Come On and Get My Love." Alongside these picks are AOR staples like Boston's "More Than a Feeling," Santana's "Black Magic Woman" and Eddie Money's "Baby Hold On." It is too bad there are only ten tracks, if there were seven to ten more Rock 'n 70s would definitely be recommendable. As it stands the disc is just too brief to be anything but frustrating unless you are looking for just a tiny little slice of the '70s. ~ Tim Sendra Sony Special Products' Rockin' 70s is a collection of ten pop/rock and album rock hits culled from the Columbia and Epic vaults. Really, the only things the featured songs have in common is their shared label and decade, but that turns out to be enough for an entertaining compilation. After all, it's hard to go wrong with a budget-line disc that contains "Black Magic Woman," "I Want You to Want Me," "Frankenstein," "Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)," "I Can Help," "More Than a Feeling," "(Don't Fear) the Reaper," "Come and Get Your Love," "Cruel to Be Kind" and "Baby Hold On." That lineup ensures that any budget-minded fan of '70s pop will likely go home fairly happy. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

$15.19 Musician, singer-songwriter Larry Dunn has recently completed his 3rd independent CD 'Got It Workin' released on his record label 'New Blue Classics'.Songs from his two prior CD's 'Migration Of The Groove' and 'The Hound Of Music' have been placed in movies; used on television (network and cable); included on compilation albums; covered by other artists; recorded for Muzak and have charted in the Top 10 on syndicated radio. Larry was raised in a musical household and as far back as he can remember great music was always playing on his family's Hi-Fi.On any given day he'd hear the sounds of The Nat Cole Trio, Charlie Christian (Benny Goodman Quintet), Illinois Jacquet, Wes Montgomery or Allen Touissaint. The thrill he got listening with his family to these great sounds began his life long love for music and set the stage for his musical career. He bought his first guitar(a used 'Montgomery Ward' sunburst model) in his hometown of Casper Wyoming at the age of 14.Shortly thereafter he joined a local rock'n'roll band and hasn't looked back. Larry's travels began in earnest when he moved to Denver Colorado after graduating from high school. It was there that he first saw, heard and studied some of the legendary electric blues players...the Three Kings (B.B., Albert and Freddie), Magic Sam and Buddy Guy as well as the rock'n'roll poet laureate Chuck Berry and the great rock players Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton.During his stay in Denver he was fortunate to have met and played with musicians hungry to learn all the 'roots' music they could...Bluegrass, Country, Delta Blues and the current Rhythm'n'Blues and Jazz.It was from this diverse musical background that Larry began to find his voice. The idea of ...
