Arrangers: George Shearing; Billy May. Black & White Satin Music Black & White Satin Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Old Smoothie Just love this C.D. A lot of the old standards in the Shearing style. Vibes and a couple of the other instruments playing the melody, softly below, while George is doodling on the piano above. Very creative while at the same time soothingly therapeutic. Submitted by djeaman (San Ramon, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Mood music for late night listening A polished performance by George with a lush orchestral backing provided by Billy May. Not exciting but very pleasant and perfect for sitting in front of an open fire with a glass of wine. Submitted by a reviewer (Somerset,England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Classice George Two of Shearing's great Capitol album's finally released, with arrangements by Billy May. If you had these on lp, then by all means replace that worn out copy with this. Let's hope for more classic Shearing! This album is accented with a light latin beat and that smooth Shearing sound. You can't go wrong with this one! Youngsters & The Shearing Sound How can a boy of 13 years of age listen to an LP like Black Satin?!?
Well I did, when a friend of my parents put on the LP during a visit. This was in 1971! And now, 36 later is still Shearing, and it always will be!
What a elegant, totally relaxing and romantic sound! Whether it is the Quintet alone, or with Orchestra-unsurpassed style and taste!!!

Black & White Satin songs
$10.05 The Latin Jazz Orchestra was founded by trumpeter Armando Rodriguez and drummer Victor Rendon in 1991. The Orchestra is smoothly piloted through a Latin jazz exploration of rhythm and melody. All but three of the tracks are expressive arrangements of Latin melodies, providing free reign for jazz possibilities, especially in the horn soloing. Mostly this is a combination of saxes and trumpets, but special attention should be brought to Mauricio Smith's flute solo in Chick Corea's "Guajira." ...

Black & White Satin album
$9.55 Over the years, countless musicians have complained about how much they hate being categorized. But to be honest, a certain amount of categorization is necessary. Music needs to be marketed, and that means that if you're primarily a country singer, you need to go after a country audience. And if you're essentially a gangsta rapper, it makes sense to go after Snoop Doggy Dogg and Warren G fans instead of making a futile attempt to get ...
