Cledus T. Judd might be the most surprising success story in '90s country music. After all, who would have guessed that country music wanted a Weird Al Yankovic of their very own? Then again, country has a new comedy cause celebre each decade or so, and it was inevitable that a cornpone Weird Al would surface at some point. Of course, song parodies have been a staple of country comedy for years, but Judd's sensibility was straight out of Yankovic -- copying the original arrangement and recording to a T, only with wacky lyrics. And, like Weird Al, Cledus' stuff doesn't work if you're not familiar with the originals or if you just don't buy into the whole schick. If you're down with Judd, however, you'll find that his catalog is every bit as consistent as Yankovic's -- he hits the mark with each of his parodies, and his original songs are strong, too. Juddmental, his fourth album, is fundamentally no different than his first three efforts, and it is no better and no worse. That's not laziness -- that's consistency. If some of the jokes fall a little flat ("Coronary Life" is disgusting, not funny, and the Ricky Martin sendup "Livin' Like John Travolta" is misguided), there are plenty more that do work (particularly "Shania I'm Broke" -- strange how Shania brings out the best in Cledus). And it's hard not to smile when Judd twists Garth Brooks' alter-ego Chris Gaines into Waite Gaines. So, if you've never liked Cledus before, this ain't gonna change your mind. But if you have, you'll find Juddmental to your liking. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Whether performing at the "Gypsy Bar" in Atlantic City's premier Borgata Hotel Spa and Casino, or at many of the top festivals,clubs and venues throughout the East Coast, each George Wesley show offers a unique experience to the audience. George Henry Wesley III was born in Northeastern,PA to a country western singer/guitar player and spent time in his band as a youth learning the ropes. Soon his music went to rock.. (Total Chaos... his 1st high school rock band experience),Grateful Dead improv..(Dead Branch Band), country-rock reggae fusion..(Small Axe) then jazz rock pop fusion..(Second Wind). In 1983 George moved to Central New York and teamed up with an old friend,Don Rogers to form the rockin' reggae " Wesley Rogers Band" .They recorded with Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare (The Riddim Twins) and toured until disbanding in 1988. At this time George moved back to Northeastern PA and played solo. Soon guests were coming on stage turning into "The George Wesley Project" Through the many guest musicians came former Wesley Rogers bandmate David "Ikril"Walker guesting on drums. On a tour to Florida,Ikril brought his friend Evon "Laza" Lazarus(bass) from his old Jamaican band "Soul,Power and Sound". Musical magic happened. IRIETATIONS!!! George Wesley and The Irietations gained quick recognition and were sponsored by Jamaica's Red Stripe Beer from 1990-92.He also recorded with Eddy Grant in 1990. Most recently George has been recognized and endorsed by Martin Guitar of Nazareth, PA and selected by them to work on some of their newest products like the Martin "X-Midi" guitar.
