Rhino's The Best of Foghat is an excellent 16-track collection featuring every one of the hard-rocking boogie band's best-known songs, from "Slow Ride" and "I Just Want to Make Love to You" to "Fool for the City," "Drivin' Wheel," and "Ride, Ride, Ride." In short, it's all the Foghat most fans will ever need. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Best Of Foghat Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Not Everybody's Cup Of Tea You have to be a Foghat fan to appreciate the guitar and drum work on this album but if you are a muso from the old school you will definitely appreciate this compilation. If it's so great why is it so short? A quote from the liner notes: "The friggin' piece de resistance of '70s boogie rock." This refers to the rockin' classic "Slow Ride." Truly a great song. But this CD contains a shortened version coming in at just under 4 minutes. Overall a solid CD as you would expect from a greatest hits compilation but buyer beware. If you are looking for the full length version of Foghat's greatest track you'll have to look elsewhere. Submitted by Brian (Bloomington, IN) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Classic Rock at its finest Foghat is southern classic rock at its finrest. A definate pick-up for Allman Bros. & Lynyrd Syknyrd fans. Submitted by coltsfan1970 (Lake Elsinore, CA. USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Good, but they seriously screwed it up... This is an excellent Foghat Best of album, but get this: the two most well-known songs by Foghat are the ONLY songs that get shortened. Seriously, what is that?! That means "Fool For the City" and "Slow Ride" are the only two songs shortened and they are the two best songs by Foghat. Fortunately, you can get both of these songs in full-length on the Fool For the City album itself. Whoever decided to clip those songs is a fool. Back-beat, Rock & Roll, Boogie The perfect example of 70's rock. A combination of back-beat, rock&roll, boogie! I was fortunate enough to have seen them live, at their peak. During the 'Stone Blue' tour with Eddie Money as the opening act. Well worth the price of admission! Submitted by a reviewer (Mesa, AZ) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Who Ultimate Collection CDs (2002) Remastered
Best Of Foghat CD music
$15.09 Initial pressings of THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION included a limited edition bonus disc featuring four previously unreleased tracks.
Recorded between November 1964 and June 1982. Includes liner notes by Matt Kent and Andy Neill.
When it comes to a ground-breaking, iconic band like the Who, dubbing an anthology THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION is no small claim. The kicker here is that it happens to be the truth. Without venturing into the realm of the box set, there's ...
| | Very Best Of The Eagles CDs (1994) Remastered; Digipak
Best Of Foghat music CDs
$21.29 THE VERY BEST OF includes a 46-page booklet with pictures and track information.
"Hole In The World" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
This 1994 greatest hits package (released in anticipation of the band's wildly successful reunion tour and album) supplants THEIR GREATEST HITS 1971-1975. It adds seven songs, but unfortunately deletes "Already Gone," one of their best rockers.
What's most interesting about THE VERY BEST OF THE EAGLES - apart from the presence of obviously classic songs like "Take It Easy" and "Hotel California" - is that it demonstrates that the band's esthetic was fully formed from day one. Despite the fact that the songs here span nearly a decade, listening to them back to back you could almost believe they were the product of one marathon recording session.
The Eagles' founders Don Henley and Glenn Frey were forthright in their desire to bring then-emerging country rock to new heights of commercial success. Formed in Los Angeles ...
| | Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits CD (2004) Remastered; Digipak
Best Of Foghat songs
$10.39 Hard-rock juggernauts Guns 'N' Roses arrived as rock & roll saviors in a dark time of generic hair metal and bloated pop. With only five studio albums to draw from (one being the all-covers SPAGHETTI INCIDENT), nearly a third of the material on GREATEST HITS is unsurprisingly devoted to other people's songs. Inclusions range from a dramatic version of Bob Dylan's "Knockin' On Heavens Door" and an outsized take on Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die" to punk classic "Ain't It Fun" and doo-wop nugget "Since I Don't Have You."
The band's original ...
| | Animals Retrospective CD (2004)
Best Of Foghat album
$15.09 Today the most recognition the Animals get is "House of the Rising Sun" being played on oldies radio, but in the mid-1960s they were a powerful part of the British Invasion, often reckoned on a par with the Beatles, the Stones, and the Who. Like those bands, the Animals had strong roots in blues and R&B, but, in their original incarnation, they stayed closer to those roots than their peers did. This definitive compilation, masterfully assembled ...

| | Amanda Ford On Fire CD (2006) (Import)
Best Of Foghat CD music
$14.95 There are many singer/songwriters who are extremely guitar-based. Whether they are playing an unaccompanied acoustic set in a small coffeehouse or playing an amplified high-volume set with a full band, their guitar (be it electric or acoustic) is something they prefer to have with them at all times. But other singer/songwriters have a decidedly pianistic approach, and On Fire illustrates the fact that Amanda Ford -- like Sarah McLachlan, Nellie McKay and Tori Amos -- is very much a part of the pianistic school of female singer/songwriters. The Pittsburgh resident plays the piano on all of the tracks (many of which find her providing some synthesizers as well), and that pianistic outlook works to Ford's artistic advantage whether she is combining pop/rock with country on "Contagious" and "Jesse," funk on "Nothing Personal," or jazz on the Joni Mitchell-ish "Quicksand." Ford (whose direct or indirect influences range from Mitchell to McLachlan to Paula Cole to Emmylou Harris) is not the type of vocalist who shouts to get your attention; ...
