The mid-'60s were a time of transition for Franki Valli and the Four Seasons. The teen market had put Valli on the map, but he knew that teenagers turn into adults, so he gradually shifted his focus from teen pop to a more mature and middle of the road (although still quite sugary) approach that incorporated influences ranging from Motown and the Beach Boys to the British Invasion. This new outlook would be reflected not only in his work with the Four Seasons, but also in the solo career he launched in 1965. Spanning 1964-1978, Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 spotlights an edgier Valli than you'll generally find on Vol. 1. This CD ranges from Four Seasons hits such as 1964's "Rag Doll," 1966's "Working My Way Back to You" (which is so Motown-ish that it was a logical choice for the Spinners in 1979), and 1975's Beach Boys-influenced "Who Loves You" to solo favorites like "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" (1967), "My Eyes Adored You (1974), the disco-ish "Swearin' to God" (1975), and the funky "Grease" (1978). Rock critics hated the fact that much of Valli's solo output was so unapologetically sentimental, but then, he never made records to please critics or intellectuals. Commercial pop was Valli's forte, and Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 points to the fact that he could do it with likable if less-than-stunning results. ~ Alex Henderson Greatest Hits Vol. 2 Music Four Seasons Greatest Hits Vol. 2 Songs Greatest Hits Vol. 2 Music Review Purchase Greatest Hits Vol. 2 CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Four Seasons Gold Vault Of Hits CD (1997)

Greatest Hits Vol. 2 songs
$11.99 This compilation is just what it says: number one hits on the American charts from the 1960s. It has a leg up on some similar anthologies, though, by virtue of its sheer quantity: 26 songs spanning the entire decade, which is pretty good value for a single CD. While it's true the selection is a little arbitrary, on the whole it's really good, and whether you ...

Greatest Hits Vol. 2 album
$9.79 By day she's mild-mannered Brooklyn-based elementary-school music teacher Sharon Hagopian. but by night she's smart and sassy electro-pop indie star Cannonball Jane, maker of 2006's first truly great pop album, "Street Vernacular". Sounding more like the work of a group (sleeps-in-his-leather-jacket guitarist, banned-from-the-academy maverick flautist, recently-diagnosed-schizophrenic drummer, typewriter-sampling-avant-garde keyboardist etc) the reality is rather different. It's just hard to believe that there's not more than one of her! Recorded entirely at home, Sharon's studio set up of beatboxes, samplers, tambourines, guitars, turntables, piano, kid's keyboards and effects shines through on "Street Vernacular", creating a mind-bendingly brilliant mix, elegant and sweetly beguiling but still rough enough to handle something bigger than a moped. From the Saint Etienne tones and Carole King-esque piano riff of "Slumber Party" onwards, "Street Vernacular" combines such diverse influences as Run DMC, The Go! Team, The Aislers Set, Ladytron, My Bloody Valentine, The Shangri-Las, Solex, The Go-Gos, Luscious Jackson and Devo, while remaining fresh, exciting and innovative at all times. There's even a nod to Mozart and a Pac-man ...
