From 1974-1979, KC & the Sunshine Band were one of the most popular R&B/pop acts and writers of the era. The Best of KC & the Sunshine Band covers the high points of the band's production team of keyboardist/vocalist Harry Wayne "K.C." Casey and quirky bassist Richard Finch. The earliest tracks, "Queen of Clubs" and "Sound Your Funky Horn," are good but not great glossy, heavily produced R&B. The list of hits here is impressive whether looking from a straight-up R&B standpoint or early R&B-based disco. "Get Down Tonight" and "That's the Way I Like It," in fact, are the perfect examples of what happened in dance-based music. Tracks from the band's best album, Part 3, rightfully get a lot of slots here. Essential offerings like "I'm Your Boogie Man," "Wrap Your Arms Around Me," "I Like to Do It," and "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty" display the band as a tireless polyrhythmic machine. The brilliant "Keep It Comin' Love" arguably bests them all. This best-of also includes later tracks, including the raucous and flashy "Do You Wanna Go Party" and the sweeping ballad "Please Don't Go." Although this best-of is more thorough than most, fans might notice a few omissions. "I Get Lifted" and their so-bad-it's-good cover of the Four Tops' classic "It's the Same Old Song" didn't make the cut. The Best of KC & the Sunshine Band is an excellent overview and proves that the band was indeed closer to R&B than they ever were to disco. ~ Jason Elias Best Of KC & The Sunshine Band Music K C & The Sunshine Band Best Of KC & The Sunshine Band Songs Best Of KC & The Sunshine Band Music Best Of KC & The Sunshine Band Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) fantastic album well this one's got it all......this one will have you dancing in your car!

Enjoyable CD of Old KC & the Sunshine Band songs I bought this CD as a request from my wife for mother's day and we ended up also getting her sister one as well. This is a good collection of the more popular songs KC and the band did. Submitted by sforce (Burlington, NC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Bringin' back the memories. I LOVE this album!! It brings back all those great memories from when I was a kid. My daughter came home singing "That's the Way I Like It" one day from school (they use it as a cheer during pep rallies) and I had to order it! Now SHE is shaking her booty and puttin on her "boogie shoes". Submitted by jenbojkov (Plano, TX, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Excellent For anyone who is a fan of the group, this is a great collection of their work. Also, the service from CD Universe was very good. I was so pleased that I placed an order for a collection of another group of that era. Great finds!!! Submitted by a reviewer (Ridgway, PA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? $12.59 Sergio Salvatore has the odd fortune of resembling child actor Fred Savage from TV's "The Wonder Years, " and that could have plagued the public's openmindedness towards taking him seriously as a major jazz talent, rather than just a cute novelty. Fortunately, deep talent has won out and the prodigy, now a teenager, has bloomed into ...

Best Of KC & The Sunshine Band songs
$12.65 Though Dollar never had a high profile in the U.S., their importance in the U.K. can't be exaggerated, since the duo's work with Trevor Horn made for his first big successes after the Buggles and his brief stint with Yes, as well as laying the blueprint for his later worldwide smashes. Though phrasing it in those terms understates David Van Day and Thereza Bazar's own abilities -- if the songs that were done with Horn's help are truly their high points, their gossamer-like, gentle singing voices were actually perfectly appropriate for their tunes previous and subsequent to those. The Platinum Collection, part of a general series of greatest-hits repackages for Warner in the U.K. covering various bands, is a perfectly fine one-disc overview, starting with their best smashes of the Horn era -- the perky "Mirror Mirror" (also included at the end in demo form), the slow building dramatics of "Give Me Back My Heart" (the cascading conclusion alone is sheer, gorgeous, melodramatic pop genius) and most legendarily "Hand Held in Black and White," which also appears in its original extended remix. Its complex arrangements, heavy on the beat and with a great piano part to boot, caught the ear of Martin Fry of ABC, helping to lead to the peerless Lexicon of Love album, but the song easily stands on its ...
