| | Hard To Find 45'S On CD, Vol. 2: 1961-64 CDs (1996)
Best Of Jimmie Rodgers CD music
$13.49 The second installment of the Hard to Find 45's series is, like the first, a wide assortment of Top 40 hits, some of them indeed very hard to find on CD or even hear on the radio. Some of them are not really that hard to find on CD, though this disc (like every one in this series) takes pains to present original 45 RPM single versions, often in stereo. Whereas the first volume was devoted to material from 1955-1960, this goes into the next era (1961-1964), and though it's pretty pop-inclined, there's a good deal of diversity. There's doo wop verging on soul by the Stereos ("I Really Do Love You," the Flares' "Foot Stompin'," Clyde McPhatter's "Lover Please"), girl-sung teen idol pop (Little Peggy March's "I Will Follow Him," Marcie Blane's "Bobby's Girl"), ...

| | Miles To Go May I Come With You CD (2006)
Best Of Jimmie Rodgers music CDs
$16.45 Miles To Go is an 80% female bluegrass band. They use this ratio to their advantage by singing siren songs that will draw you into a trance and possibly love you up and turn you into a toad. The band is Cassie Singley on lead vocals and frailing banjo, Tamilisa Wood and Hilary Barlow both play mandolin and fiddle and sing beautiful harmonies, Maggie Sabey plays bass and Trent McCausland plays guitar. Miles To Go has a unique and pleasing sound distinguished by its powerful vocals and fine instrumentation. The trio of harmonies has been compared to watching birds diving and swooping around each other in an almost choreographed dance. It’s truly enchanting. This is the band's debut CD. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. Here's a little info on each song:Asheville – Hilary wrote this after too many months of cold, snowy weather. She loves Asheville, NC, a bluegrass Mecca. Maybe some day she’ll take us there. Ride on a Train – This is a Judith Edelman song. We started playing this one in our band’s infancy and it’s always been a favorite. A Girl’s Song – Trent showed up one night with this beautiful poem by Leslie Norris. Leslie’s wife, Kitty, had once told Trent that he was such a “serious boy” and needed a hobby. He picked up the guitar. Leslie passed away shortly after recording his remarks on this CD. We are truly blessed and honored to have his approval and work on this project. Duluth – Sultrified Mason Jennings. This siren song could well be a powerful tool for any girl wanting to lure an unsuspecting traveler. Goodnight Peter Pan – Cassie wrote this after a break-up. Her mom is convinced that this song will be her romantic demise. Hard Times – Haven’t we all had them? We love Maggie’s bowing on this number.Gypsy Wagon Train – Another great Hilary song. For some reason, Hilary thinks she knows everything about Gypsies, although we’re not sure she’s ever met one. Her grandma, Ruth Kartchner, remembers the gypsy wagons circling up in Provo’s North Park. Her stories were the inspiration for this song.Grow Old with Me – ...
| | Wanda Jackson Very Best Of The Country Years CD (2006) (Import) United Kingdom
Best Of Jimmie Rodgers songs
$18.39 The Very Best of The Country Years picks up from the point where Wanda made a seamless transition from country- inflected pop and rock to straight country. It contains a few more early rockers, all of her important country hits (there were over 20 in number), and several superlative LP tracks, a fabulous combination that showcases all the varied talents of this remarkable artist. The eye-catching booklet includes a 4000+ word essay by Rob Finnis together with ads, reviews and rare pics of Wanda from the relevant period. Wanda Jackson remains very active on the touring circuit, having found a following among younger audiences who sense her rebel spirit. She also runs a busy website which contains feedback from her many fans including Elvis Costello, and this release should be assured considerable media attention.
Some know the legendary Wanda Jackson only as either a wild rockabilly banshee or a gospel singer. Jackson was also a solid, original country singer and this collection by Ace, one of the very best assembled onto a single disc, proves the point in spades. When Jackson emerged form the rockabilly years, her country records contained more than a little of that untamable spirit that made her hits of the 1950s so essential. The recordings in this set cover the years 1958 to 1972. They say as much about Nashville as they do Jackson -- check out the prototype-psychedelic guitar solo in "Right or Wrong" from ...
