Recorded between 1985 and 1994. Includes liner notes by David Lee Roth.
Although he'll always be known first and foremost as the lead singer of Van Halen, David Lee Roth forged a successful solo career after splitting from the band in 1985. And since some of his solo releases were better than others, 1997's THE BEST proves to be a solid introduction and overview of Roth's work. At a whopping 20 tracks in length, all the expected DLR standards are featured--fun covers of "California Girls," "Just A Gigolo," and "Tobacco Road," as well as the white hot rocker "Shy Boy," and the expected hits ("Yankee Rose," "Goin' Crazy," "Just Like Paradise").
Also included is a brand new song, "Don't Piss Me Off," as well as the new wave-esque "Stand Up," and two surprisingly laid back rockers, "Big Trouble" and "Ladies Night in Buffalo." While some longtime fans may wonder why such strong album tracks as "Knucklebones" and "Hina" aren't included, the tracklisting is near-perfect, making THE BEST a superb summary of the Diamond one.
Hits collection from the Van Halen frontman featuring the same tracks previously available on the now-deleted U.S. compilation released on Rhino in 1997. Most of Roth's best-known songs are here, including 'California Girls', 'Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody', 'Yankee Rose', 'Ladies Night in Buffalo?', 'Goin' Crazy', 'Skyscraper', 'Just Like Paradise', and 'Stand Up' plus cuts from his under-appreciated albums A Lil' Ain't Enough and Your Filthy Little Mouth. Although Eddie and the Van Halen gang are nowhere to be found, DLR did manage to work with some great sidemen during his solo years including Steve Vai, Edgar Winter, Eddie Martinez, Brett Tuggle, Billy Sheehan, Willie Weeks, Gregg Bissonette, Carl Wilson, Christopher Cross and many others. 20 tracks. Warner. 2005.

Just trying to make a buck... to buy more weed. Talk about wrecking your life & career in one shot. There's a total of 5 good songs on this thing, the rest, just filler. Download the good ones illegally off the net. Yankee Rose, Goin' Crazy, Sensible Shoes, Just Like Paradise, Lil' Ain't Enough, & maybe Shyboy. You don't need the rest. $13.09 David Lee Roth is back! Not that he ever left us in the first place. The self-professed Toasmaster of the Immoral Minority has delivered his most thunderous release since 1988's SKYSCRAPER. After venturing into the world of "R&B metal" with his last effort, Roth has gone back to doing what he does best; tearin' the ...

Detractors have long called minimalist bands such as AC/DC, Bad Company and ZZ Top formulaic. By paring rock down to its most basic elements, these bands forged a musical terrain where anything less than mastery over the form would reveal gaping holes in the structure. Remember that there are no keyboards filling up space, or creating diversions on an ...

Best
$13.05 After returning to active touring in 1980 on the heels of DOC AT THE RADAR STATION, Captain Beefheart recorded this final album with the last incarnation of The Magic Band. In part constructed from pieces which weren't recorded for its predecessor, as well as numbers which had origins dating back ten years, ICE CREAM FOR CROW is a strong work. It benefits from the seemingly easy interplay of the band members--no small feat given the intricately interlocking rhythms which are a prime feature of The Magic Band's sound in every version ever assembled.
The world-weary photo of Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet) which adorns the cover accurately ...

$9.35 This is Johnny Katchoolik's first all-instrumental album, featuring 15 tracks that will make your mind go "wheee!" The way the tracks are laid out in the album is more like a 3-course meal. The album starts out with an appetizer of tunes that will ease you into the Katchoolik groove. They are filled with light but flavorful percussion sounds, inspired by Katchoolik's taste for world music. ...
