Xorcist Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews a classic This album is full of sick beats and serious lyrics. Good background, excellent lyrical rhythm(all tracks), deep content without preaching (Deuce-5..). You have to hear this album. Recorded over the phone out of prison, the sound is still clear, and I think it adds a different ( in a good way) quality to the vocals. The fact that it comes out of prison and the judicial system and prison experience and shows a change in the artist earns it stars. On a mental level- very interesting, addresses important issues from a different and more mature perspective than one might expect. On a musical level- skilled all around... you will definitely enjoy this album. Well worth buying. Submitted by a reviewer (Greater Boston, MA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Worth the buy Pretty good for recording over a phone, and hes got his cousin Lunasicc "Wanna Get High" which is probly one of the best weed songs to date. Other than the fact there are as many skits as there are songs, its pretty damn good Submitted by Itsandy89 (OLY,WA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$156.09 Six CDs, covering 1948 through 1960, and in that 400+ minutes you get an overview of the transition of postwar rhythm & blues from the black community to the heart of mainstream popular music. Disc one opens with their earliest sides from July 1948, when the quintet was still very heavily influenced by the Ink Spots. The group's music during this period grew rapidly in sophistication; their second session shows a startling level of confidence, the group embellishing the melody and harmony of their songs and transforming them into something new. The sound quality of some of the material on this disc is less than perfect, due to the state of the best available masters. Things get very interesting on disc two, with the first recordings to feature a string section (their first conscious effort at crossing over into the pop market. On disc three, they continued to record in their trademark sophisticated sound, although some songs also capture them at their bluesiest. Disc four catches the group moving into a fully mainstream R&B vogue, as well as Sonny Til's superb duets with Edna McGriff. Disc five covers the period of their biggest hit, "Crying In the Chapel" -- by 1953-1954, the Orioles were generally working in a kind of big-band R&B mode, and most of this material, in keeping with their success of the era, did get out. Disc six covers the tail end of the group's original period with Jubilee and then picks up for a coda in the 1960s. This material is a little less focused than much of what has come before, for the Orioles were competing in a crowded new arena of R&B-turned-rock & roll. The notes are fascinating, and the sound, ...

Denise LaSalleQueen of Soul BluesBiography2005Denise LaSalle made her ECKO RECORDS debut in October 2002 with the hottest record she has had in over a decade. "Still the Queen" offers such powerful tunes as "You Should Have Kept It In The Bedroom," "Unloveable Habits," "Dirty Freaky Man" plus her touching, soul-stirring tune inspired by 9-11-01, "There's no separation." Denise is not just getting older, she's getting better. Time has not diminished her writing skills or her voice.Denise's career started 34 years ago on Westbound Records producing her first Gold Record, "Trapped by a thing Called Love," followed by "Now Run and Tell That", and "A Mansized Job". All three were number one R&B hits. In 1976 she moved to ABC Records where she recorded three albums including, "Second Breath", "The Bitch is Bad". and "Under the Influence." In 1979, ABC was sold to MCA Records. For MCA she recorded "Unwrapped" (1979), "I''m So Hot"(1980), and "Guaranteed" (1981).
