all new material - the vocals were recorded in prison & the music was added in the lab; this is his 3rd album, bound to be another rap classic
There's little question that X-Raided, unlike many of his gangsta peers, truly lives the life he preaches; he recorded his third album, Unforgiven, while incarcerated at a Sacramento prison. X-Raided recorded all the vocals while in jail, and the music was laid down in a local studio. At the very least, this makes the album unique, but it's hard to view it as anything other than a novelty, even though X-Raided isn't half bad as a rapper. However, the vocals (not surprisingly) sound strangely isolated from the music, and the cumulative effect of his lyrics is a little creepy. All of this makes it worth one listen, to be sure, but the music and rhyming aren't strong enough overall to reward subsequent plays. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

his best Easily X-Raided's best CD. The sound quality and clarity of the lyrics greatly improved from the Xorcist, i don't know how they did it but it sounds good. Everything else improved too, the beats are very well done, whether the raw style for "Mortal Combat", the hip hop style of "Spitten Venom", or the upbeat "Kick It 2-Nite". The delivery is flawless, with full effort put into the writing as well as the recording. X can come with the tounge twisters, or keep the steady pace and let the words do the work. He has managed to create a balance between hardcore aggression, creative lyrics, and personal reflection that is rarely this successful. X rides solo for the most part too, with only two guest versus, which i respect and appreciate. If you've never heard of him this is where to start, but don't expect his other albums to measure up to this one. Submitted by chef dog (http://ugrap.de/forum/index.php) Was This Review Helpful? No Holds Barred!!! X-Loc is way to tight for the rap game. He should be our next black leader you know when things just ain't right he's the nicca we look to for answers. This album and Thug Religion by Killa Tay are the best rap albums ever. I say this because "X" is locked-up and is not getting any money from his album sales and when he lets ;oose he he put his blood, sweat and years into his music. I also think this is the best rap album ever cuzz it was made in my hood--MARINA,CA. The Central Coast. I know the producers and the phone bill was between $900-$1500 a month doing this project. It was worth it. Keep Ya Head Up X-Loc. Submitted by heavenlybodiesonly831 (Marina/Seaside, CA by RICC-ROCC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$12.49 This 1976 release from Fatback is an odd proposition: While nothing on it is unlistenable, it is also lacks any memorable moments. The problems begin with the title track: While it bounds out of the gate with a forceful, funky energy, it also recycles riffs and structural ideas from their previous big hit, "Spanish Hustle." The rest of Night Fever plays out in a similarly uninspired fashion -- it has plenty of energy but lacks the quality songs and carefully constructed arrangements necessary to create a worthwhile dance music album. The result is an album that tries hard but ends up chasing its own tail. A lot of the tracks drive potentially exciting riffs ...

Unforgiven CD music
$15.19 K. Marc Hoffman's music, whether symphonic, pop vocal or commercial, is known for its eclecticism. At times pastoral and reminiscent of the "Americana" of the mid-20th century, his concert works can also be quite dissonant. His popular music styles range from contemporary Christian to synth pop.Marc was born in Salisbury, NC, received a degree in composition from the North Carolina School of the Arts, and did additional study in film composition at USC. Prior to attending NCSA he studied voice, composition and piano at Pfeiffer University. He received a scholarship through the NC School of the Arts Foundation to spend a summer studying at The Dartington International Summer School of Music in Devon, England. His composition teachers have included Sherwood Shaffer, David Ott, Leo Arnaud, Neil Hefti, Bruce Broughton and Fred Steiner. He is a member of BMI and the American Composer's Forum. Marc's Homeland for orchestra has been well-received over the past 15 years. The solo piano piece, Middle Earth was premiered in the U.S. by the composer. A U.K. performance followed by pianist Andrew Ball. Of the U.K. performance, The London Guardian said, "...the Hollywood impression's of Marc Hoffman's (piano work) made some pieces on the program seem stale and derivative." Three Figures In A Night Sky, a three-movement piece for symphonic band received it's premiere by the symphonic band at Baylor University. The piece has received performances by several other university ensembles as well. Hoffman has also composed music for stage plays, (both musicals and background music for dramas and comedies), theater openings, weddings, modern dance, television and radio, and political campaigns. Recent works include ...
