A great classic ...both ahead of and behind their time!
Klaatu ..yes indeed! Ahead of their time in concept and musicianship, and behind, for the fact that they sounded like the Beatles, but much more that a Beatles "tribute" band. If you missed either of these albums, you missed a ton of great music! I had owned both of these albums on eight track at one time. So it's great to know they both can be purchased together at an amazing low price. My only complaint of this collection is that one of my favorite tracks, "Perpetual Motion Machine" is missing :( But those unfamiliar w/ it won't know the difference. Still, a great buy! Don't miss it.

It's about Time!
I still remember the big stink that surrounded this band! They ARE the new BEATLES! Well not quite......but still a damn fine bunch of musicians. If you Like Beatlesque style or will admit to enjoying the Ruttles (what you never heard of the Ruttles? FOR SHAME!) Klaatu will hit the spot for you, great inventive music. with both albums on one cd it's a must git! I still think someone dropped the ball on this one these guys died out faster than Boston! Great stuff while it lasted!

Unsong Heroes ?
This music/story telling is unparalled in its class and was missed by most of the general public, but a few of the like minded had a chance to heard some of the material only after it had been released for some time. What a shame this group was not dicovered sooner and that they - to my knowledge have broken up. They had something very special the Beatles missed and that makes them even more special. I would gladly pay the top rate to see this group just once and I am sure many others would do the same now that they have finally been discovered. They are one of my all time favorites - "what a find"! My first listen was the Sir Army Suit recording, back in the mid 80's.

Sergeant Pepper ten years later
Allegedly inspired by hearing Queens' "Night at the Opera" being mastered in the suite neighboring the studio where Klaatu were busy recording their epynomously titled debut, bandleader John Woloschuk is supposed to have murmered something to the effect that "our next record is gonna be something along THOSE lines! The resulting LP, "Hope", far surpasses "Opera" (as fantastic as that record is) in scope. This is Klaatu's magnum opus. Dave Riley's uncredited arrangements give drive to the operatic segments, and the moogfest that concludes "Long live Politzania" (roughly translated as 'police forest') will give pause to Walter Carlos fans. Dont miss this one!

Never Heard Of Klaatu? You've Been Short Changed!!
Many American's were cheated out of an incredible musical experience in the 70's - the pleasure of hearing the music of Klaatu. Formed in Canada this ecclectic group of extremely talented musician's never received their due from American Radio and subsequently went virtually unnoticed. Initially it was speculated that these recordings were produced by one(or more)of the Beatles. When you hear these albums you'll know why. Well crafted song writing and incredible production values for this time period, as well. Once you're hooked, look for two additional albums: Sir Army Suit & Endangered Species. When you listen to this music you'll think "How in the world did I miss this music?!".
