Double Up album for sale Product Description
After scoring at platinum levels with 1996's HARLEM WORLD and its impossible-to-avoid hit single "Feels So Good," Mase continued to wax poetic about girls, glam, and his own fame on his 1999 sophomore effort. Bad Boy's most upbeat MC switches up the landscape a bit on DOUBLE UP, perhaps an attempt to emerge from Puffy's significant shadow, providing a sort of electronic worldbeat backdrop on "Stay Out of My Way" and a space-rock Gary Numan interpolation on "No Matter What." However, his wide-eyed, unadorned rhymestyle delivered in a careless, languorious drawl remains, making DOUBLE UP a fitting follow-up. Engineers include: Paul Logus, Roger Che, Jim Janick. Audio Mixer: Charles "Prince Charles" Alexander. Recording information: Compass Point Recording Studios, Nassau, Bahamas; Hit Factory, NY, NY; Silent Sound Recording Studios, Atlanta, GA. Personnel: Mase, Puff Daddy, Total, Blackstreet, Carl Thomas, Cheri Dennis, Mysonne, Harve "Joe Hooker" Pierre, Shyne, Harlem World, Funkmaster Flex (vocals); Mario "Yellow Man" Winans (keyboards, drums, programming); Tim McKasty (keyboards); Chucky Thompson (programming). Producers include: Sean "Puffy" Combs, Mario "Yellow Man" Winans, Nashiem Myrick, Mase, Daven "Prestige" Vanderpool. Entertainment Weekly (6/18/99, p. 77) - "... showcases the 22-year-old star at the peak of his powers.... Mase cannily packs his tracks with can't-miss samples.... But it's his words, delivered with chilling, methodical clarity, that cut deepest... " - Rating: B+ Q (4/02, p. 133) - 3 out of 5 stars - "... A finely-tuned commercial proposition... "

| I don't really kick it with rap, but I do like Mase's songs with R&B in them such as "Get Ready." Keep up the rap in R&B and hiphop joints! By a reviewer (Illinois) |
