Having built up a sizeable cult with surprising mainstream exposure here and there, the Milkmen got as close as they ever would to high-profile success with Beelzebubba. The basic formula and approach of the band hadn't changed a lot, but they did get it all together to create another near-perfect single, "Punk Rock Girl." Sprightly and catchy, it mixes the unexpectedly tender, sweet side of the band with the usual drawling humor from Anonymous -- everything from accordion to utterly random Beach Boys (or is that the Mamas and the Papas?) references crop up. Beyond that splash, it was Milkmen time as usual: over the top, sarcastic, and more. Production was the clearest and most radio-friendly it ever was. The band's eternal hatred for trendoids, poseurs, and morons unsurprisingly continued to flourish from the first song in: "Brat in the Frat" targets the title character in question but spends some time demolishing the radical wannabe as well. Similarly amusing slams and smackdowns crop up throughout: "Bad Party," the snarky "Everybody's Got Nice Stuff But Me," and so forth. As an album through and through, Beelzebubba suffers from the same problem as Eat Your Paisley in many ways -- a load of potentially inspiring ideas that often don't add up in the end. "RC's Mom" is a good example; if the music is meant to parody funk, it doesn't do it as well as, say, Led Zeppelin's "The Crunge," and if it's a celebration, it's pretty obvious and boring. As for the vocals, well, never mind. But so long as songs like "My Many Smells" and "Born to Love Volcanoes" are around, there's still hope yet. ~ Ned Raggett

4 stars Worth a Listen
This was one of my favorite albums as a teenager. After not hearing any of the songs in over ten years, I started listening to this album again. I realized I still knew all the words, some are just too good to forget! This album is fun and full of ridiculous lyrics that make it even more enjoyable to sing along (or scream along) with.

5 stars Hilariously Nefarious
Having a twisted sense of humor is a MUST to enjoy this album. Some of the most HEE-larious tracks I've ever heard emanate from this, the finest of the the Dead Milkmen albums out there, in my opinion. If you like your punk rock raw, witty and defiantly comedic, then you must purchase this CD!!!

5 stars GREAT STUFF MAN !!!
This is one of the great albumcs of its day, and quite frankly.... its better and more hilarious than anything thats been done SINCE!!.. iN A WORLD of music that takes itself way too seriously,, this stuff is simply ESSENTIAL on the ears.. WHen this first came out they were invited on Dance MTV.. and Rodney Anonymous handcuffed a Tuba to the wrist of Julie Brown during a live version of Punk ROck Girl, where they all lip synched. halfway through the song, they dropped thier instruments and were chasing eachother around the dance floor. Brown didnt think it was funny. I did. Get this album, its yesterday once more!

In The Wake Of Separation
Thine Eyes Bleed In The Wake Of Separation CD  (2005) Bonus Track; Enhanced CD

Beelzebubba album
CD $5.55  5 stars
The temptation is certainly strong, but one should try not to look down upon Canadian neo-thrashers Thine Eyes Bleed just because they were founded by a former guitar tech of atrocious nu-metal band Kittie -- not least because their 2005 debut, In the Wake of Separation, is already far superior to any of that group's pathetic albums. In fact, the manic flurry of opener "Cold Victim" and its slightly less frantic and more involved (arrangement-wise) followers, "Without Warning" and "And Since Forgotten," prove quite impressive by any standards. Four songs in, this deathly thrash barrage is finally snapped when "Live to Die" breaks off into a slower passage, capped by the disc's first use of clean vocals; then it's back to the races with the absolutely pummeling "Corpse You Up." Through them all, frontman Justin Wolfe contributes another layer of intensity with his ragged screeching, but, as is the case with so many neo-thrash hopefuls, once the initial excitement of hearing such fast and furious music abates, one finds it hard to remember anything all that special about the songs. This is particularly true of this album's final four tracks -- that's right, only four more numbers for a spare total of nine, and barely over 36 minutes of music. That last characteristic denotes ...
