| | Heavy Metal 2000 Heavy Metal Fakk2 Soundtrack CD (1 Customer Review)
Nineteen years ago, the movie "Heavy Metal" broke new ground in film animation. Its accompanying soundtrack gathered some of the hottest rock acts of the time, although the likes of Devo, Donald Fagen, and Don Felder could hardly be considered either hard rock or metal. Now, HEAVY METAL 2000 has rectified the situation as metal and industrial acts unite on an ear-splitting album.
Maintaining the values of the original film, "F.A.K.K. U" is an extreme aural breach that screams sex, drugs and rock & roll. Monster Magnet's rock radio hit "Silver Future" starts off in a deceptively mellow mood, until it's overtaken by Dave Wyndorf's slashing guitar riffs. Pantera stokes the metal tradition with its pounding, aggressive "Immortally Insane," while Days Of The New inject their acoustic stylings into the proceedings on "Rough Day," and Queens Of The Stone Age proffer a psychedelic "Infinity." Billy Idol, who provides the voice for one of the film's main characters, retains his snarl and attitude on his first track in seven years, the appropriately-titled industrial workout "Buried Alive" with rap-metal represented by an Insane Clown Posse/Twiztid one-two punch on the anti-police "Dirt Ball."
Includes liner notes by Kevin Eastman.

Heavy Metal Fakk2 Soundtrack songs
$34.89 Diana Ross rightly belongs in the pantheon of essential pop artists, and the appearance of 2007's DREAMGIRLS, a film based on the rise of the Supremes, made her legendary star shine all the brighter. Though not as strong as Ross's best work from the past, her 2007 solo album, I LOVE YOU, is a nice, safe collection of romantic standards, ballads, and contemporary covers.
The material ranges from classic pop (Bacharach-David's "The Look of Love," for example) to vintage R&B (the Platters' "Only You") to seemingly odd but still enjoyable choices (Berlin's "You Take My Breath Away" and the Spiral Staircase's "More Today Than Yesterday"). The arrangements are straightforward, and Ross's performances are enjoyable, if a bit timid, but die-hard fans of the great singer will still appreciate her take on these fine, well-known tunes.
In what might be the least inspired album of her career, iconic diva Diana Ross sleepwalks through a mishmash of seemingly randomly chosen love songs, all covers save for one new composition, adding nothing to them and forcing one to wonder just why she bothered. It's been standard music industry ...
