| | Rebbesoul-O CD Rebbesoul Discography of CDs
Rebbe Soul-O is an unusual singer/acoustic guitarist that both folk-rockers and world music enthusiasts should take note of. One could describe this promising CD as folk-rock and note the influence of Bob Dylan on "Sister Sarah," "How You Gonna Know" and other songs. But unlike Dylan, Soul-O does his share of singing in Hebrew, often using his Jewish heritage as a source of inspiration; much of the time, the results are fresh-sounding as well as memorable. Other high points of CD are his arrangments of the traditional Jewish songs "Avinu" and "Et Dodim Kalah." This disc let us know that Soul-O was an artist with serious potential. ~ Alex Henderson
Rebbesoul is the leader and driving force of his band which blends together the sounds of traditional Jewish music with African, Middle Eastern, and Eastern European rhythms. His third album, RebbeSoul-O, is the soundtrack to his one-man play describing his musical journey."An outstanding acoustic guitarist, Burger also plays balalaika and mandolin while singing in both Hebrew and English. His compositions take acoustic rock into a mystical realm, and the traditional tune Avinu shines in an arrangement that fits wonderfully with the gorgeous melody." - Playboy

Rebbesoul-O CD music
$6.15 This is part of Windham Hill Records "A Winter Solstice" series.
One of the most well known productions of the Windham Hill label, which basically invented new age music but prefers the term "contemporary instrumental," has been the WINTER'S SOLSTICE series. Perhaps inspired by the season-based recordings of George Winston, the SOLSTICE albums (which feature tunes from a variety of the label's artists) have always been not Christmas albums per se, but winter albums. Of course, a few Yuletide-oriented tunes do find their way onto this, the anniversary edition of the first volume in the series, but for the most part these are agreeable sonic meditations ...

| | Claude Challe Buddha-Bar, Vol. II CDs
Rebbesoul-O songs
$40.49 Claude Challe's Buddha-Bar, Vol. II compilation has elements of Far Eastern spirituality, African song, European electronica, and Spanish spice. The first album, Buddha-Bar, is very mellow for the most part. Deepak Chopra and Demi Moore, far and away the most recognizable names on the album, do a spoken word ditty on love and self-worth. People who are not fans of new age doctrine will appreciate artists such as Oliver Shanti and Consuelo Luz, both of whom contribute songs that manage to sound musical, spiritual and ethnic at once. The second album varies from hallucinatory to groovy to fairly high-energy. "Tears Inshalla" will appeal to fans of Eastern-influenced trance. Lyrics are of almost no importance on the album. They do exist on most tracks, but they bounce around from English to Portuguese to Arabic. Bits and pieces and snatches of phrases come through here and there -- just enough to make a listener feel in sync with it all. This music is intended to be an ambient journey, and while a few of the tracks seem to stray off into ...
