 Music of the Moravians
The music featured is delightful and Pearlman's comments are a welcome addition. These instrumental and choral works deserve a wider audience, both for their quality and for their connection to the Moravians (whose contributions to our nation's history are too little known). The booklet containing translations into English of the German lyrics is well done. I highly recommend this production. The music is both pleasing and uplifting.

 One of the Best
As a Moravian in America, one gets used to explaining the nuances and traditions of a faith that is so firmly rooted in its heritage. The music is a large part of who we are, and it is no exaggeration to say that we know and love our hymns by name. The anthems and hymns featured here are at once nostalgic and exciting, and present several anthems that have passed out of our traditions and into the archives. Although the Boston Baroque leaves a few minute Moravian details aside (customary ritards and fermatas)the presentation is sparkling, beautiful, and generally an excellent representation of what makes Moravian music so special- both to our culture as Moravians, and to our culture as Humans.
