This album is actually the first collection of "new" '50s-era Vincent recordings to appear since the leather-clad rocker's sad demise in 1971. It includes a wealth of previously unreleased studio tracks and newly discovered live performances, as well as home demos and acetates previously only available in poor quality or on unauthorised releases. The latter give a valuable insight into Vincent's creative process whereas the vibrant live recordings illustrate just why he has been a cult figure in the world of rock 'n' roll for so long.

The four live Big "D" Jamboree radio show tracks from 1958 are the obvious highlights because recordings of Gene's stage act are pretty thin on the ground. The demo for "In My Dreams" marks the first studio recording by Gene with a new Blue Caps line-up featuring legendary guitarist Johnny Meeks. Other important tracks include a recording of Gene and the Caps working up their second hit "Lotta Lovin'," a demo version of "Say Mama" (called "Hey Mama") featuring a young Ronnie Dawson on lead guitar and bonus tracks of early songwriters' demos of songs later made famous by Gene such as Bob Kelly's "Git It."

Includes liner notes by Derek Henderson.

Digitally remastered by Phil York (Yorktown Digital Works).

LIVE AT THE BBC is a 2-CD set containing 69 live tracks, all of which are previously unreleased. Also included is a 48-page booklet with track-by-track annotations and essays by Derek Taylor and Kevin Howlett. Recorded live between 1962 and 1965. Includes liner notes by Derek Taylor & Kevin Howlett. LIVE AT THE BBC was nominated for a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Historical Album. Although the guitars are often electric, LIVE AT THE BBC is, essentially, the Beatles Unplugged--yanked out of the recording studio, gathered around a few microphones and encouraged to show off their raw craft, naked voices and rock'n'roll roots. MTV didn't exist in the early '60s, but the BBC did, and between March 1962 and June 1965 (a period that spans their first four albums and takes them from the simplicity of "Love Me Do" to the complexities of "Ticket To Ride") the Beatles performed 52 times on England's national radio network. Although they had honed their craft in British and German rock clubs, the Beatles were mostly known as a studio band, and the radio shows served as a sort of behind-the-curtains glimpse of the studio wizards. Most of these performances are covers of early ...

Recorded live at Carnegie Hall, New York, New York on September 14, 1980. Includes liner notes by Hal Prince and Leonard Bernstein. Barbara Cook established her second career as a nightclub and concert singer with her 1975 Carnegie Hall debut and the album At Carnegie Hall that was culled from it by Columbia Records. She followed two years later with a Columbia studio set, As of Today. By 1980, she and the major label had parted ways, but her performing career was as successful as ever. So, she returned to Carnegie Hall on September 14, 1980, with a new show, this time recorded by the Moss Music Group for 1981's ...

Back story time for all of you new to Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. Colin Linden, Stephen Fearing, Tom Wilson decided to form a Canadian roots supergroup to bring the music of Willie P Bennett to the masses. Long story short, Willie P was a staple of the Canadian folk circuit in the later 60\'s and 70\'s - you can read more about him here - but essentially his style of music influenced a lot of the Canadian music that was eaten up in the 90\'s (the Skydiggers and BNL owe him a big chunk of change). Colin, Stephen, and Tom decided to record an album of his classic songs, and finally brought some exposure to the road hardened vet.The trio\'s take on his songs was so well received that they decided to keep on rocking and now they are back with the bookend of the Woodstock session; they recorded 29 songs for two records that were released 9 months apart. The second release from the Woodstock session is less structured and you can actually feel the life flowing through Let\'s Frolic Again. It\'s like you are watching the band play on your porch. The record - a whopping 14 songs - is best described as one of those jam sessions that turns out perfect; the songs mix well and the solos sound great. They venture into country, blues, skatting boogie, and a toss in a few spirited covers (including Willie P Bennett\'s Sometimes It Comes So Easy and Murray McLachlan\'s Down by Henry Moore), but the real gift of this record comes from the pure joy coming from the band. You can almost see the big smiles ...
