He's Preparing Me album
$9.99 Black Eyed Peas, the hip-hop crossover juggernaut that propelled singer Fergie and producer Will.I.Am to superstardom, have, since 2003's ELEPHUNK, been audaciously plugging away at their bombastic but lighthearted style of rap-cum-dance pop--an effort that has translated to a run of successful chart-topping singles including "My Humps," "Pump It," and "Don't Phunk with My Heart." Eager to follow ...

| | Salteens Short Term Memories CD (Import) Australia
He's Preparing Me music CDs
$22.35 The Canadian coed combo the Salteens packs plenty of power pop tunefulness and up-and-at-'em zest in melodic bursts of three minutes or less. 2000's SHORT TERM MEMORIES is a sure cure for that moody everyday ennui.
The Salteens infuse their immensely likeable power pop with so much enthusiasm and energy -- and so very little ...
| | Philadelphia Freeway CD (2003)
He's Preparing Me songs
$11.99 On PHILADELPHIA FREEWAY, rapper Freeway debuts with an enigmatic, instantly recognizable vocal style that eschews the gruff, slurring, tough-guy shouting of many gangsta hip-hop artists in favor of a punchy, higher-pitched style that often recalls the Old School pioneers. Don't be fooled, though--there aren't any block party anthems here; this is aggressive, hardcore stuff. Freeway has a take-no-prisoners approach that often sounds like a fist in the face. Just Blaze's production matches perfectly, using beats that contain elements of jungle to give each track a manic intensity. Standouts include "On My Own," for which Nelly provides ...
| | Iced Earth Days Of Purgatory CDs (1997) 2CD
He's Preparing Me album
$13.89 DAYS OF PURGATORY is a collection of remixed songs from 1986 through 1994.
Days of Purgatory is perhaps the best starting point for anyone first discovering Iced Earth, as it presents much of the band's early material with superior sound quality and musicianship, most notably from vocalist Matthew Barlow. All aspects of the band's songwriting are presented herein: energetic staccato riffing, dual-guitar harmonies, melodic acoustic passages, complex arrangements, and double kick drums. These are combined most effectively on "Colors," "Nightmares," "When the Night Falls," and the outstanding "Desert Rain," with its atmospheric guitar intro. And while "Angel's Holocaust" features uncharacteristic goth-style background choruses, "The Funeral" is surprisingly memorable as an instrumental. The band is at its inventive best in the nine-minute epic "Travel in Stygian." ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
A somewhat controversial release, Days of Purgatory contains re-recorded versions of 15 songs originally featured on Iced Earth's unevenly produced early albums -- the sort of thing that drives musical purists up the wall. However, because it also unearths a few long lost demos for studio resurrection, it also arguably offered the best starting point for those first discovering Iced Earth, until the release of 2004's nearly flawless The Blessed and the Damned greatest-hits set, that is. Now, if that information doesn't already have you immediately checking out The Blessed and the Damned, the fact remains that Days of Purgatory still serves its primary purpose: revamping that quality-challenged material with superior sound quality and musicianship, most notably from vocalist Matthew Barlow. ...
| | Beam CD (2003)
He's Preparing Me CD music
$11.35 Beam is a vehicle for the lovely songs and voice of Helene Renaut. She's very French, but has been living in the San Francisco area for a while. She possesses a sweet, lilting voice that has the habit of staying within arm's reach of pitch, which is quite unique for a French female pop singer. The songs she has written for this debut record are pastoral beauties that call to mind Donovan, early Joni Mitchell, Hope Sandoval, Ladybug Transistor, and their family of bands, fellow French poppers like Ivy, and another great San Francisco area band Call and Response, whose drummer, Jordan Dalrymple, plays drums, piano, and slide guitar, and provides backup vocals for Beam. Only a couple of the songs are in French; the rest are in cutely accented English, with the gentle "California Cradled You," the dreamy "Les Anges n'ont pas d'Ailes," and the sweeping "You Rock Me Once" being highlights. The rest of the band, despite looking like the house band at your local "exotic" coffeehouse, provides sympathetic and very restrained backing for Renaut's songs. So it often occurs that a misplaced loud guitar riff, or Jaco-fied bassline, ends up fracturing the delicate mood of a record like this. But the boys in the band have masterfully avoided such tragedies. Guesting on the record are the Moore Brothers, who provide wonderful background vocals on two tracks. Beam's debut is a lo-fi, low impact, gem of a record that shouldn't be ignored ...
