Victory At Sea Soundtrack album by Richard Rodgers was released Aug 11, 1992 on the RCA Victor label. The 1952 NBC series Victory at Sea was one of the earliest network documentary series to capture the public's imagination in a serious way, and one of the more enduring offshoots was the music by Richard Rodgers, which was recorded by RCA-Victor in what ultimately became a series of four LPs. Victory At Sea Soundtrack songs Rodgers was chosen by series producer Henry Salamon based on his being the "leading American composer of his day," a somewhat exalted (though understandable) judgement for a man who was most closely associated with the Broadway stage and Hollywood. Victory At Sea Soundtrack album Rodgers devised a straightforward melodic score whose most inspired moments (such as the main title theme) seem to have been lifted from the early work of Ralph Vaughan Williams. As good as the original LP
Martial Music at it's best! Could be classed as "Tone Poems" decribing various aspects of battles and occurances during WW II.

Great Soundtrack
What made the series so interesting, in addition the great war footage, is the stirring music by Rodgers and Bennett. This is guaranteed to stir up images of the film in your mind, and make you proud to be an American!!! Rush out and buy it!!!

An American Classic
This CD evokes memories of the great TV series by the same name. Who could not be thrilled by the great music of Richard Rodgers? I'm sure that America's top composer, John Williams, loves Rodgers' music and that it inspired him in some way.

Bought this when first released years ago
Richard Rogers a musical great and the video Victory At Sea were and are a classic seldom equalled ..Never surpassed..A stirring tribute to the "Greatest Generation".....The only other theme and series that can remotely compare to it is the music from Lonesome Dove..Both American classics...
