5 stars Almost as good as seeing the pieces
Vesselina Kasarova is probably the best mezzo soprano since the great Marilyn Horne (and years from now people will refer to her as the Great Kasarova). Not only does she sing Mozart's insanely difficult arias so beautifully technically. She has a unique ability to project her emotions and intentions with her vocal coloring and volume control. She floats notes like no one else does to great dramatic effects that the recording sounds like a live opera performance (with perfectly quiet audience) rather than a recital. And her voice seems different with different pieces. Her low contralto end is very mesmerizing. Her top is free. Absolutely even thru out the range (which I can't quite tell where the edges are), and with superb control. Too bad Mozart isn't alive today to hear her performance of his music!!!
