(3 Customer Reviews)
The Rip Chords' debut album features equal smatterings of the original group ("Gone," "Here I Stand," "She Still Thinks I Still Care," "Ding Dong") featuring Phil Stewart's soaring Four Seasons-inspired falsetto and the more Beach Boys-oriented sound of Bruce Johnston and Terry Melcher (nice covers of "409," "Drag City," "Little Deuce Coupe," and "Shut Down") with the best session players money could buy back in the early '60s featured on the instrumentals "'40 Ford Time" and one of the bonus tracks, "Bunny Hill." A nice addition to anyone's surf/hot rod music collection after you've spun all of your favorite Beach Boys and Jan & Dean tracks. ~ Cub Koda

Rip Chords Hey Little Cobra Songs Hey Little Cobra Music Review Average Rating: (3.3 out of 5 stars) We should be living in the 60's This is a fantastic CD, full of excellent old songs, I was not disapointed with the product, it lived up to my expectations, I may be biast because I mainly only like music from the 60's & 70's. The product arrived within the stated time frame,in very good condition, securely & safely packaged, keep up the good work, this was my first purchase from cdUniverse, it will not be my last. Thank you, Colin. Submitted by clpreitz ("Thuringowa, QLD, AUSTRALIA".) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.

Hey Little Cobra music CDs
$14.29 This 20-track compilation gathers together the best of Johnston's and Melcher's best sides for Columbia under the B&T moniker. That's important, because this collection could just as easily have been double the length if they had amassed all the tracks that Bruce & Terry had recorded under other names like the Rip Chords, etc. including the hit "Hey Little Cobra." Because Bruce & Terry were a virtual vocal overdubbing machine, some of the tracks on here ("Custom Machine," ...
| | Rip Chords Three Window Coupe CD (1964)
Hey Little Cobra songs
$12.55 With the recording of "Three Window Coupe" and its subsequent album and follow-ups, producers Terry Melcher and Bruce Johnston started singing on the Rip Chords sessions as well. This move effectively forced original members Phil Stewart and Ernie Bringas into touring-group-only status. On this album, only Stewart appears anywhere, and even then, it's only on two tracks, "Bonneville Bonnie" and "Old Car Made in '52." But as another Bruce and Terry production, this is top-notch stuff, with all the L.A. session heavyweights and the best hot rod-surf production this side of Brian Wilson and Jan & Dean. ...
| | Ronny & The Daytonas G.T.O.: The Best Of The Mala Recordings CD (1997)
Hey Little Cobra album
$14.29 After years of suffering from various bootleg compilations direct from noisy 45s of dubious legality and awful fidelity, Sundazed puts together simply the best collection available on everybody's favorite Nashville hot rod group. John Bucky Wilkins -- aka Ronny Dayton -- was the nominal group's focus as songwriter, singer, and lead guitarist, doing most of his hot pickin' on a nylon-string classical model. As a songwriter, his principal inspirations were Brian Wilson and Chuck Berry. His producer was Sun Records alumni Bill Justis ("Raunchy"), a supposed rock hater, who nonetheless knew how to ...
| | 25 All-Time Novelty Hits CD (2002)
Hey Little Cobra CD music
$14.45 These 25 tracks were all hits between 1955 and 1977, so it might not be quite accurate to dub them "all-time novelty hits." Still, that's the time span that most people who buy such compilations are going to want to zero in on, so what's the harm in the chronological limits? It can be taken for granted that a novelty compilation is going to have a lot ...
