(5 Customer Reviews)
One of Sundazed's usual excellent reissues, this disc combines the entirety of the Buckinghams' first album with a pair of bonus tracks, adding detailed liner notes, remastered sound and rare photos for a fully satisfying package. The Buckinghams came out of Chicago in 1966 as one of the first examples of what music writer Eddie Gorodetsky has since dubbed "goatee rock": a second wave of post-British Invasion bands audibly influenced by the Beatles--whose "I Call Your Name" gets a soulful makeover--but equally by sweaty Stax/Volt-style R&B.
That's the type of music the band clearly loves, as jumping covers of "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" and "I'm A Man" prove, not to mention a Ray Charles-like take on the Gershwins' classic "Summertime." The originals, exemplified by the hit title track, combine the two influences into something which at the time sounded new and different.
Reissue of the Chicago-based group's debut album, originallyreleased in 1967. Contains all of the original tracks in stereo, including the smash title hit, plus two bonus tracks: the single-only side 'Lawdy Miss Clawdy' and the Buckingham's lengthy fuzz-fest, rave-up version of 'I'm A Man'. 14 tracks total. 1998 Sundazed release.

Buckinghams 1st album reissued ! If you're a Buckinghams fan and want more than a greatest hits collection by them then, you should start with this their first album and get the others as well. They're done by Sundazed Music who put their quality touch to great and generous effect with the sound, extra songs, and packaging. Submitted by a reviewer (Arlington, Va.) Was This Review Helpful? Great 60's album on CD They have alot of really great songs from the 60's like Lawdy Miss Clawdy,
Sweets for My Sweet and the classic Kind of a Drag, check out the song "You
Make Me Feel So Good" that was on the 45

Music with character The Buckinghams truley represent the inocents and freedom of the sixties. Melodic solos (Denny Miccolis, 'Kind of a Drag')and songs about our first loves and trails. A true representation of the boys next door, and their coming of age.

With their flower-power-tinged pop masterpieces and heavenly vocal harmonies the Association was at the epicenter of the '60s California "sunshine pop" scene whose other luminaries included the Mamas & the Papas and the Beach Boys. Though the group's many hits make up a major part of the '60s musical legacy, the Association's only representation on CD in the US before the release of t

$6.75 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal ...

Raised on chitlins, collard greens and greazy yardbird, he also developed a healthy appetite for The King, thanks to his mother's devoted collection of Elvis records. But, all was not well at home for the future King of Filth. As a portly toddler, he was teased and taunted at school. At home, physically, sexually and verbally abused, he began to withdraw and would increasingly turn to his mother's Elvis records for fulfillment. The final straw came at the tender and awkward age of thirteen, when one day his drunken father came home with more than chitlins and yardbird on his mind. As a blooming adolescent with budding desires and cravings of his own, he decided he was getting too old to keep playing "hide the sausage" ...
