(3 Customer Reviews)
Sundazed reissue of 1971 album by this Arizona psych band who sound like the Chantays arm wrestling with the Electric Prunes & refereed by Captain Beefheart. Features all 15 tracks from the original, plus the original cover art. 1999 release.
Kennelmus: Ken Walker (vocals, guitar, zither, melodica, electric piano, organ, effects); Bob Narloch (vocals, guitar, harmonica, tambourine); Tom Gilmore (recorder, bass); Mike Shipp (drums, percussion). Originall released on Phoenix International Records (42171). Includes liner notes by Jud Cost. Digitally remastered by Bob Irwin (Sundazed Studios, Coxsackie, New York, New York). In the early 1970s, Kennelmus was Arizona's only psychedelic surf band. Their lone debut album is one of the true rarities of pyschedelia and is presented in its original form, sans any remixes or extra tracks. The music, just as heralded as the album is rare, is an oddball head on collision of the Chantays, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Lee Hazlewood and Ennio Morricone & the Electric Prunes all rolled up into one gigantic head rush. Listing individual tracks is almost senseless as the album was conceived as one long piece of continuous music, but selections like "I Don't Know," "Dancing Doris," "Shapes of Sleep" and the closing "The Raven" have a hypnotic pull all their own. A true visionary piece or late psychedelic noodling, you be the judge, but definitely a band with a sound and a style all their own. ~ Cub Koda

| Folkstone Prism Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) freaking great As psychedelic rock collector- this is a must have. it features the psychedelic genius that can be paralleled with Syd Barret. has very wispy and whimsical guitar amd zither riffs and whole hearted tonality not to mention some lyrical zaniness as well some heartfelt messages. It measures up with a clean production sound; definitely adds a hypnotic and trance-like mood to anybody's atmosphere. Submitted by conquistador_144 (Salem. OR, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Desert Vibe One of that handful of truly unique psych albums, lost between Index and CA Quintet. Has some of the most mysterious guitar psych instrumentals ever on side 1, backed with equally odd vocal stuff on the flip. Play this and something strange enters the room that you'll enjoy having around after a while. Submitted by liam (Chicago) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The most underrated psychedelic album ever! Seriously people, this is a psychedelic masterpiece and the album is extremely brilliant, yet has never been given the attention it rightfully deserve's. This one is right up there with Pink Floyd's masterpiece Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. You'll never find a better album for $15 or not even $105. Folkstone Prism
$15.19 Feel Records recording artists National Eye are ready to unveil "The Meter Glows", the debut full-length from this Philadelphia-by-way-of-Colorado outfit."The Meter Glows", which will be released November 18, 2003, was engineered and produced by National Eye at their home studio. They brought in esteemed producer Thom Monahan, from the Pernice Brothers, to mix the record. Monahan's credits range from Silver Jews and J. Mascis to Beachwood Sparks. National Eye's sound, in a nutshell: an optic clang, a color swarm of repetition and dissonance and harmony which transfigures its descriptions of distorted memory and lumbering beasts (human and otherwise) into a movie minefield of vivid pathos pop."The Meter Glows" exemplifies all those adjectives to a tee.Take, for example, the love theme of "Friday Afternoon Theem". It careens into an oddly ...
