With song titles like "Marrakesh," "Blues by the Ganges," and "Moroccan Roll," it's clear that this is Steven Halpern's take on world fusion. DEJA-BLUES began its life in 1978, as an album called HEAR TO ETERNITY. Twenty years later, as Halpern transferred the master tapes to digital format, he was inspired to re-release the record with refurbished arrangements and other embellishments. The result is this collection of hypnotic, Middle Eastern-tinged dance numbers that lead the listener on a soulful inward journey.
Recorded at The Music Annex, Menlo Park, California in 1977 & 1978 and Banquet Sound Studio, Santa Rosa, California. Includes liner notes by Steve Halpern and Keyboard Magazine.

Cilette Swann's exquisitely powerful vocals lead, while partner Roman Morykit balances the band's etherealedge with inspired bass and guitar counterpoint. Cilette writes lyrical tales with impassioned insight and Roman creates the evocative musical tapestry, which the two effortlessly marry. Roman, an experienced producer with fourteen CDs to his credit, handles all of the production and most of the instrumentation for Gypsy Soul's CDs. Their extraordinary music and unique sound has been likened to artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Eva Cassidy, Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Allison Kraus, Shawn Colvin and Loreena McKennitt for its depth and beauty. The two met in Scotland and have traveled the world together for 13 years. Between the two of them, the duo has lived in five different countries, thus, bringing to their music, the influences of many cultures. Gypsy Soul's inspiration also stems from their diverse family roots: Roman is British, of Italian and Ukrainian decent, while Canadian-born Cilette's heritage is Irish and South African. | | Songs From The End Of The Road CD (2008)
Deja-Blues CD music
$18.99 Songs From the End of the Road is a compilation of new work by four individual songwriters: Rodd Ambroson, Janis Carper, Carolyn Lochert and Heidi Muller, and is inspired by big sky and snowcapped mountains of Wallowa County, Oregon. The project grew out of regular gatherings to critique each other’s new songs. It presents themes of rural life, relationships, inner strength and social commentary, written with vivid imagery, insight and twists of humor. Each writer has a distinctive style, ranging from the contemporary folk of Ambroson and Muller to Lochert’s smooth jazz grooves and Carper’s bluesy country-rock. Lochert, Muller and Carper sing lush vocal harmonies, and Carper shows her versatility by playing lead guitar, Spanish guitar, dobro, banjo, bass and percussion. Supporting musicians include Daniel Rhiger and Rahmana Wiest from Sky in the Road on harmonium and vocal, Roger McGee on Native American flute, Rich Shirley on upright bass, Lisa Robertson on fiddle, and Bob Webb on electric cello and mandolin. In addition, Carper’s sister, Julie Turner of Houston, Texas, played piano on a song written for her. Carper and Webb recorded, mixed and mastered the project. Janis Carper and Heidi Muller are ...
