This compilation contains the complete 1970 REUNION album plus bonus tracks selected from Glenn Campbell 70's/80's solo albums.
Reunion With Jimmy Webb is an Australian import that pairs Campbell's complete 1974 album of Jimmy Webb compositions, Reunion, with 14 songs from later albums, all of which were also written by Webb. Webb was the songwriter behind some of Campbell's biggest hits, including "Galveston" and "Witchita Lineman," so their collaboration on Reunion would seem to have been a commercially promising move. As it turned out, the album wasn't a big seller, although it did spawn the Top 40 country single "It's a Sin (When You Love Somebody)." The liner notes suggest that Reunion may be Campbell's finest hour, and although that overstates its excellence, it is a very good, consistent album that sits somewhere between Elton John and John Denver in the country music spectrum. The additional tracks, some of which were recorded as late as 1988, are generally less good, sometimes much less. ~ Greg Adams

No Depression (5-6/00, p.108) - "...A landmark of American popular song, compositions of rare beauty standing testament to a uniquely perfect pairing of a singer's voice with a songwriter's vision..." Reunited With Jimmy Webb
$20.09 Raven's 2002 two-fer reissue of Glen Campbell's 1975 album Rhinestone Cowboy and 1976's Bloodline is given three bonus tracks and billed as "The Lambert & Potter Sessions 1975-1976," since these two albums were produced (and occasionally written) by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter and have a distinctive sound unlike many other records in Campbell's catalog. It's not a coincidence that Campbell began working with Lambert and Potter after reuniting with Jimmy Webb for the understated Reunion, since this is a logical step forward from Webb's symphonic, intricate compositions. Lambert and Potter ...
