Spin (4/03, p.102) - "...Meaty..." Shut Your Mouth & Open Your Eyes Music Shut Your Mouth & Open Your Eyes Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) acquired taste It took a few spins for me to really get into this record. I hated most of it the first time I heard it. After a while, though, I grew to love it. This is furious, abrasive punk-metal at its best. The record is not as good as "Black Sails" or "Sing the Sorrow", but it's certainly a keeper. Submitted by trevorbarth (IL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Damn When I first purchased this album in 2000 and I was somewhat skeptical because I heard Black Sails (which came out AFTER S.Y.M.O.Y.E, not before!!) and I was used to that sound and when I purchased all of the previous albums, I didnt know what to expect but I was really blown away in a good way. Hardcore all the way This AFI album is excellent! It combines the two areas that AFI is known for: their uniquly expressed lyrics, and outrageous ability to take punk to a new level. This album is hardcore and doesn't stray from the originality required to hold the AFI title. If you loved "Black Sails in the Sunset," you will rock out to the harder side of AFI. | | Judy Jacobs Above And Beyond CD (2003)
Shut Your Mouth & Open Your Eyes
$10.59 Judy Jacobs, known for her dynamic, anointed ministry, has literally been around the world singing and preaching in concerts, retreats, churches, conventions, and ladies conferences. Her soulful, impassioned style communicates a powerful message; Judy knows the One about whom she sings and preaches...and she leads her audience into heartfelt worship. She defines ministry as, "being able to communicate to people, through music and the word, the joy that there is in following Christ and living a victorious life in Him."The youngest of 12 children in the Johnson Jacobs family, Judy's life has been influenced by godly parents. She comes from a family who encouraged her in music, and taught her the importance of Spirit-filled ministry. "I have always loved to sing," Judy recalls. "Even as young as five years old, I loved being in church, especially when I had an opportunity to sing." After her conversion at age 8, she began singing in churches and other Christian functions with five of her sisters. They were widely known as the "Jacobs Sisters". Judy states, "Our parents were our greatest spiritual influence, especially seeing their commitment to prayer and fasting; they impacted all of our lives." While attending Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, in the early 80's, Judy was invited to sing with Danny Murray and New Harvest-a contemporary gospel group. After finishing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian education and music, she continued traveling with the group and recorded 10 albums. Since going solo in 1989, Judy has established her ministry, appropriately called "His Song Ministries". She has several recordings to her credit. Her most recent recordings were produced by Lari Goss of Nashville, Tennessee; who has also produced such artists as The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Larnelle Harris, and Karen Wheaton. Along with her music recordings, Judy has also released several ...

Shut Your Mouth & Open Your Eyes
$15.99 First released as a five-song EP on an Italian label in 1988 and re-released as a full CD in 2007 with extra live tracks on LTM, Brown Plays Tenco finds Steven Brown and various compatriots interpreting the work of cult '60s Italian pop singer Luigi Tenco, noted for his sharp, strong singing and songwriting as well as his melodramatic suicide. The original studio tracks, with Tuxedomoon bandmate Peter Principle among the backing musicians, are enjoyable electronic-rock fusions in keeping with Brown's general work, interpreting Tenco's performances for a newer era. The one English-language translation, "Lontano Lontano," brings the elegant but wracked and haunted power of Tenco's work to a wider audience, while the remaining four find Brown assaying the originals quite well, from the brawling kick of the aggressive "Ciao Amore!" to the stark sorrow of "Vedrai Vedrai." The live tracks come from two separate Italian dates in 1988, the first batch with a quintet lineup and the remainder featuring only Brown and pianist Daniele Biagini. Both sets are well recorded and, some track duplication aside, feature different foci -- the quintet tracks mostly consist of Brown's ...
