Highlights include the frenzied rocker "Anxiety (Get Nervous)," and the pop-based "Little Too Late," but the best track is the album-opening "Shadows of the Night"--the latter featured Benatar as a World War II fighter pilot in its popular promo video! GET NERVOUS would prove to be Pat's last multi-platinum release.
Although Pat Benatar was already an established and successful rocker by the dawn of MTV, the new network helped to bolster her career even further. 1982's GET NERVOUS spawned several of Pat's biggest video hits, as the music had more of a melodic and modern edge than her harder early work.
Personnel: Pat Benatar (vocals); Neil Geraldo (guitar); Charlie Giordano (keyboards); Roger Capps (bass); Myron Grombacher (drums).

pat rocks cduniverse review of Precious Time (1981) says that album was the last hard rocking benatar album. not true.
This album, released in 1982 rocks just as hard, if not moreso.

PAT BENATAR: A Legeng of the Now Generation! This cd/record really opened my eyes to a newer old generation of Rock and Roll. Pat Benatar is the reason I picked up my first guitar. Learning to play every song on this specific record. Submitted by Taylor, 15 (Harlan, Ky, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
PAT DOES IT AGAIN!!!! ANOTHER brilliant effort from the legend herself. The quality of this album both sound and music is first class. This is perhaps not as heavy as her 1st two albums, but is more commerical. Shadows, A Little Too Late and Looking for a Stranger (which, APPARANTLEY if you play it in reverse has some strange messages about "making money" or something?) are all great tracks. Love the cover too! Submitted by Matt (Hobart, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Bon Jovi took a few faltering steps with their promising self-titled debut album and its shoddy 7800 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT follow-up. However, it was with this third record, a mixture of New Jersey storytelling and songwriter/collaborator Desmond Child's keen awareness of commercial appeal, that the perfect equation of songs and suss was established. The almost noble "Wanted Dead Or ...

$9.09 IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT is where it all started for Pat Benatar. Her 1979 debut includes several tracks that automatically caught the ear of rock radio, and perfectly set up a recording career that by the mid-'80s would make her one of the top female rockers in the U.S.
While other female-fronted rocker outfits such as Heart incorporated elements of Led Zeppelin into their sound, Benatar and her band went the opposite route and incorporated melodic pop into their hard rock. Such highlights as "Heartbreaker" and a cover of John Mellencamp's "I Need ...

| | Eskimo Joe A Song Is a City CD (2004) (Import) Australia
Get Nervous music CDs
$24.95 SONG IS A CITY is the second album from Australian band Eskimo Joe and features nine live acoustic recordings from 2003.
Eskimo Joe's follow-up to their 2001 full-length debut Girl shows the band trying to shake off any expectation as well as the ghosts of their early releases. Simple, even juvenile songs like "Sweater" and "Turn Up Your Stereo" from the late '90s earned Eskimo Joe a place in many an Aussie teenager's brain, but after the modest success of their first album, it became clear that the group was growing up, and so was their music. After the clumsy opener "Come Down" fades, a driving melodic piano line ushers in "From the Sea," still hailed by some as the band's finest hour. Released weeks before the album, this first single signalled the beginning of a new era in more ways than one (Eskimo Joe were dumped from EMI's Modular label and then signed by Festival Mushroom in 2002). Vocalist Kav Temperley revealed that for this album, the band turned to their coastal hometown of Fremantle in Western Australia for inspiration, hence the album's title, and "From the Sea" is a clear indication of this. Bringing in the piano as a focal point on some cuts shows the direction Eskimo Joe are leaning towards, and they extend its use on their third album Black Fingernails, Red Wine. While this album is a little hit-and-miss with catchy pop gems lying next to the aimless ("I'm So Tired") and the wasted ("Carousel"), the trio have put some memorable tunes together. The wonderful ballad "Life Is Better with You" has an uplifting chorus complete with makeshift choir, and although the verses owe much to Neil Young's "Down by the River," it's one of the album's highlights. "Older Than You" is two-and-a-half minutes of radio-friendly pop bliss, and buried towards the end of the record is the rousing Led Zeppelin-tinged rock of "This Room," which provides more fire and grit than anything else here. There are a lot of different influences seeping into the songs, but the leaps from genre to genre weigh the album down, rather than lifting it up, creating a scrapbook of half-realized ideas. "Smoke" which isn't much more than a repeated riff and some falsetto flourishes, could have been a contender and the notion of bookending the album with similarly structured and themed tracks ("Come Done" and "Car Crash") might have worked had more time been spent on the songs themselves and not the production. The good outweighs the bad, however, and A Song Is a City offers ...
