Kill City album for sale Product Description
Kill City album for sale by Iggy Pop / James Williamson was released Jan 29, 2008 on the Bomp label. To say Iggy Pop had hit bottom in 1975 is an understatement; after the final collapse of the Stooges, Iggy sank deep into drug addiction and depression, and he eventually checked himself into a mental hospital in a desperate effort to get himself clean and functional again. At the same time, James Williamson, his guitarist and writing partner in the last edition of the Stooges, still believed their collaboration had some life in it, and he talked his way into Jimmy Webb's home studio to record demos in hopes of scoring a record deal. Kill City CD music contains a single disc with 11 songs. ...See Full Description

| Iggy Pop - 'Kill City' (Bomp Records) First came out in 1977, sort of like Iggy's pre-first solo record, with the help of former Stooges guitarist James Williamson. Not quite as proto-punk as the first three Stooges lp's but still a good effort from the Stooges front man. Tunes I liked best were the title track "Kill City", "I Got Nothing", the classic "Johanna" and "Lucky Monkeys" Makes for good listening. A should-have. | Forgotten Masterwork The BEST Iggy "solo" record, bar none. Kill City gets zero recognition compared to The Idiot & Lust For Life, but that might be because it's rooted in dope-sleaze rock, not the David Bowie-Berlin-New Wave mystique that surrounded Iggy in '77. For my money, amongst the 12 or so best songs Iggy did after the Stooges, at least a handful come from Kill City, more than any of his other albums. By Captain (Central Canada) |
| Underrated Iggy Classic No it's not the Stooges -- quite a bit slicker and more restrained, but almost as good. There are quite a few gems, most notably Consolation Prizes (with one of the coolest slide-guitar riffs ever), Beyond the Law, and the slower No Sense of Crime and I Got Nothing, which are both reminiscent of Gimme Danger. And there are really no bad songs (which is more than I can say for The Stooges debut). In my opinion, this is really one of the most listenable rock & roll albums ever. By Jason (New York, NY) |
| This is what the Strokes wished they sounded like.. Not an essential rock album, but a damn good one. This is the sound of transition; from Stooges to Lust for Life-this is the in-between sound. Not every song is good, but there are great ones here. By fliptheflapper (Cleveland, OH) |
