This DVD is the 1980 horror film, is 95 minutes, letterbox ed, and is rated R. Camp counselors are stalked by a violen t killer at Crystal Lake Camp. Stars include Betsy Palmer, Adrienne King, Kevin Bacon, & others. Despite repeated warnings to stay away, a group of fun-loving but none-too-bright teenagers set out to reopen the eerie Camp Crystal Lake, which closed 20 years earlier after a series of bizarre and unexplained deaths. Now someone is lurking in the woods, spying on the happy campers, and plotting a gory, grisly revenge on those who would disturb the camp's slumber. A horror classic that set the standard for slasher flicks of the 1980s. Friday The 13th - Part 1 Reviews: "...Consistently creepy, it's fitted with the best jump ending in movie history..."

The best Friday of them all! It's not because it's part 1 in the Friday franchise. The original Friday the 13th is the best in the series because it boasts some of the best atmospheres ever, a terrific cast, beautiful gore, and a score a mother (and everyone else!) can love. Dispite being panned by critics, and fans of horror (more often the idiots who can't form their own opinions) this is one great horror flick. And...I'll say it...it's a good movie in general too! Unbelievably bashed to smitherines, F13 is still the daddy of slasher films. Ofcourse, the granddaddy is "Bay of Blood", and the great-granddaddy is...whatever. Join in on the horror! still a classic after all this time Friday the 13th is still the best slasher movie I have ever seen. I love the idea of these young people being in this isolated place during a thunder storm with a maniac on the loose. People often watch this film with Jason on their minds, that is a big mistake because this movie is really a mystery slasher much like terror train or my bloody valentine. What makes this film scary is that the killer is not revealed until near the end and it all starts to make sense. I still believe that in terms of setting and location Friday the 13th beats Halloween by miles even though Halloween has other strengths. Another Classic This is considered by the fans and by critics to be the best Friday the 13th installment and I agree completely. The originals are always the best. Very few sequals ever surpass the original. Jason wasn't the killer in this one and that's probably why I liked it so much. I get so bored and sick of Jason walking around and killing people. It's the same old crap really. However in this film Mrs Vorhees was the killer and she was looking for revenge due to her son drowning. She was the original killer and one of the best, if not the best female killer in horror history. The Friday the 13th franchise is so successfull because of the first installment. Paramount should've closed the franchise by Part 4 the Final Chapter because the films after that weren't making that much money and they weren't getting tremendous returns. People began getting sick of Jason wielding his knives, axes, screw drivers and other weapons around and killing people without any motive. That's probably why New Line Cinema took over the series and didn't include Jason that much in the 9th installment, Jason goes to hell. They wanted to create something different and maybe save the franchise. Don't get me wrong Jason is one of the greatest serial killers in movie history and he has nearly 250 bodies to his credit, but you get bored after a while watching him. That's the problem with these Friday the 13th films. The film-makers got too carried away with the success and they made too many sequals. I own every Friday the 13th film, including Jason X and Freddy vs Jason. The only film with Jason which I thought beat the original Friday the 13th film was Freddy vs Jason and that's due to Freddy's contributions to the movie. Anyway this is the greatest Friday the 13th installment, so make sure you own it. Submitted by William 23 (L.A California, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$12.15 European cult cinema shlockmeister Jess Franco subjects the much-retold tale of Frankenstein to a fantastic update in this gleefully perverse horror film. One of three films the director shot in Portugal between 1971-72, THE RITES OF FRANKENSTEIN (AKA THE EROTIC NIGHTS OF FRANKENSTEIN) features British character actor Dennis Price, who appears here as the titular character in one of his final roles, before his death in 1973. The quietly brilliant doctor has discovered a way to resurrect the dead, but he is cut down in his laboratory and his monster stolen by the ghastly bird-woman, Melissa (Anne Libert). Melissa is under the spell of Frankenstein's nemesis, Dr. Cagliostro ...

$24.19 THE FROGMEN: A WWII film of the highest caliber, THE FROGMEN sports fast-paced action and extraordinary cinematography, and earned a well-deserved Oscar nomination for its especially breathtaking underwater photography. Richard Widmark (HOW THE WEST WAS WON) stars as Lt. Cmdr. John Lawrence, who takes command of a team of demolition divers--known as "frogmen"--after the death of the much-loved previous commander. Lawrence's strict rules do not go over well with the men, who are fiercely independent. When disaster strikes, Lawrence gets the chance to earn his stripes in front of his men, risking his life in a dangerous attempt to save the day. The ensemble cast also stars Gary Merrill (ALL ABOUT EVE), Dana Andrews (BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT), and Jeffrey Hunter.
THE ENEMY BELOW: It's Robert Mitchum vs. Curt Jurgens as the commanders of an American destroyer and a German U-boat play a deadly game of cat and mouse. Noted for its underwater effects. THE ENEMY BELOW was directed by musical comedy star Dick Powell, who became a producer/director for feature films and for Four Star Television.
SINK THE BISMARK!: It's spring 1941, and Great Britain is yet to be defeated by the Nazi army, but all of that could change soon. The Nazis have launched their juggernaut battleship, the Bismarck, to close off British supply lines and ultimately invade the country. A counterstrike is ordered, and with ...
