Romeo and Juliet review Product Description

Romeo and Juliet movie was released May 23, 2000 by the Paramount Home Entertainment studio. .138 minute feature film DVD starring John McEnery, Leonard Whiting and Michael York.

Director Franco Zeffirelli's penchant for period love stories find its perfect outlet in this classic Shakespeare tragedy, and many consider it the best filmed version of the story. Romeo and Juliet DVD for sale As the title characters, fifteen year old Olivia Hussey and seventeen year old Leonard Whiting bring a touching amount of spontaneity and innocence to their roles, which works in the favor of the film, if not always the text.   ...See Full Description

A Glorious Cinematic Triumph!
The Bard would be proud of this fantastic movie version of his great, great play! Every word is true to the play and yet it is so easy to understand and even easier to Love! Romeo, Juliet, Mercutio, Tybalt and the Nurse are played to perfection by the cast members, and I doubt that a film version will EVER be done to equal Franco Zefferelli's production! A favorite moment is the wonderful song sung at the party where Romeo and Juliet first meet called, "What Is A Youth?" The movie is a glorious cinematic triumph!

THE Love Story
Romeo and Juliet movie With all due respect to Laurence Olivier (who is the unbilled Chorus in this film) and Kenneth Branagh, this is all in all the most successful adaptation of a Shakespeare play to the screen. Yes, the text is severely cut and yes, those song lyrics are not Shakespeare's, but the spirit of the production is spot on. It's beautifully photographed and passionately performed, and Michael York and John McEnry give definitive performances as Tybalt and Mercutio respectively. It isn't Shakespeare's best play, but it is his best movie.

Romeo and Juliet video As soon as this movie came out on VHS, I snatched it up. I LOVE this movie. Romeo and Juliet film It is so romantic. I remember seeing it when I was about 17 years old and I am now 50. This show is timeless and all the actors are wonderful. A brilliant movie. Shakespeare would be proud.
