Soon, the ladies discover that they've all been recently dumped by their smarmy husbands for younger, nubile women. The neurotic trio decide to band together and seek vengeance, using such bureaucratic methods as the IRS and the legal system. But their dogged efforts lead the femmes to break laws themselves. Lots of them.
So will revenge be sweet for these first wives? Or will they land in the slammer instead? Reuniting for the funeral of a college classmate, three women of a certain age join forces to gain revenge on their youth-obsessed former husbands. A scathing satire of both society and Hollywood, adapted from the best-selling novel by Olivia Goldsmith. Released theatrically in the USA September 20, 1996.

For Independent Women...
I really enjoyed this movie. Midler, Keaton & Hawn are hilarious as the roles of the single wives. I think the plot is sufficent. It reminds me of me & a few friends who could fit these roles perfectly, minus being the wife. Just a heartful chick flick that shows women it's okay to be independent & no guy should ever hold you back.

Excellent movie!! Fun,fun,fun!
Midler, Hawn, Keaton are very funny in this movie. We can´t forget Maggie Smith, Sarah Jessica Parker. Everything is great!! I love the part when them go to Shelly ( Sarah J. Parker) and try to get dirty papers about Morty´s business. Watch part when Shelly comes back to apartment after Duarto Feliz try to help the girls.
Very, very funny when Annie ( Keaton ) says: "I didn´t take anything" and the others hit her because she is insane!! ahaha! I laugh a lot in this part.
And when they try to get out Shelly´s apartment!!!! Wonderful!
And the final when the girls sing: " You don´t own me...." Great song, great final, great Movie. Enjoy it, everybody!!

The First Wives Club is hilarious! It's one of those movies that you can watch again and again and laugh every time. I buy all of my movies and music from VideoUniverse. The quality is always excellent, and I love the service. Shipping is always fast!
