Incubus: Happy Knappy (vocals, djembe); Fabio (guitar); Dirk Lance (bass); Salsa (drums). Recorded at 4th Street Recording, Santa Monica, California. Personnel: Happy Knappy (vocals, djembe); Brandon Boyd (vocals); Fabio , Mike Einziger (guitar); Jose Antonio Pasillas II (drums). Recording information: 4th Street Recording, Santa Monica, CA. Photographer: Kenny Morrison. Incubus' independent debut is an unremarkable take on suburban MTV funk. While there's much to dislike, notably frontman Brandon Boyd, who growls like he wants the voice of anybody but himself, there are also a few variants to the Hi-NRG game that wouldn't be out of place with Fishbone or Primus. "Hilikus" is a funkier if more legible Rage Against the Machine, and "Shaft" works the sensible side of dancefloor metal, offering a strong collection of big noise, scratched records, and stripped and temperamental bass assaults. Though fans who arrived later will be surprised by its roughness, Fungus Amongus is a step removed from most of the empty-headed rap-metal army. ~ Dean Carlson Originally released on the band's own label in 1995, this marks the first over the counter appearance of their earliest demos, accurately described in the liner notes as "infamous, timeless, and mildly painful recordings" made by musicians "a mere 16 years old, and still wanting, very badly, to be Primus, Mr. Bungle, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers all rolled into one." That bit of self-deprecation aside, the songs here (although obviously not as polished as on the band's later studio albums) nonetheless demonstrate that Incubus were already ferociously accomplished musicians at this stage, and that their merger of metal and turntable techniques was fully formed from day one. funky good time This is some great music from a bunch of kids in high school to start off. It shows a new style of funk rock. And finally, its one of incubus' best cd's. Submitted by zola (Flint, MI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Biggest change in style i have ever seen from a band. Wow! That's the reaction i had when i first heard this. since i am into heavy rock (linkin park, audioslave etc.) and funk (jamiroquai) this was an amazing mix. This was recorded before the boys were signed to Epic i believe, so they just made music from what they were listenning to at the time, and it just so happend that half of the band was listenning to metal and the other half funk and in an interesting combination decided to put the two styles into each and every song on this album. If you enjoyed songs from incubus such as: anti-gravity, Certain Shade of Green or Battlestar Scralatchtica then you may like this, but i beleive that you are better off getting Enjoy Incubus EP because its got alot of the songs off this album and it has some better songs such as Azwethinkweiz.
Trust me when i say: This is NOTHING like Morning View or A Crow Left of the Murder!!
Most similar to S.C.I.E.N.C.E. (best incubus album) but nowhere near as polished..
Album highlights: You Will Be A Hot Dancer, Sink Beneath The Line, Hilikus. Submitted by Bobby (Sydney, NSW, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Fungus Amongus
$14.49 Photographer: Ben Watts. Buoyed by the popularity of the hit contemporary pop ballad "Home," singer Michael Bublé's 2005 album, IT'S TIME, clearly positioned the vocalist as the preeminent neo-crooner of his generation. Easily the singer's most stylistically wide-ranging album so far, 2009's CRAZY LOVE is also one of his brightest, poppiest, and most fun. Bublé kicks things off with the theatrical, epic ballad "Cry Me a River" and proceeds to milk the tune with burnished breath, eking out the drama line by line. It's over the top for sure, but Bublé takes you to the edge of the cliff, prepares to jump, and then gives you a knowing wink that says, not quite yet -- there's more fun to be had. And what fun it is with Bublé swinging through "All of Me," and killin' Van Morrison's classic "Crazy Love" with a light and yearning touch. And just as "Home" worked to showcase Bublé's own writing abilities, here we get the sunshine pop of "Haven't Met You Yet" -- a skippy, jaunty little song that brings to mind a mix of the Carpenters and Chicago. Throw in a rollicking ...
