Digitally remastered by Ray Staff & Bob Whitney (Whitfield Street Studios).
SANDINISTA! was the Clash's affirmation of their support for the Nicaraguan revolution, the movement that overthrew President Somoza and aroused the ire of U.S. President Reagan. The music was a more conscious exploration of reggae and dub music than the Clash had ever attempted. The group fought their record company to keep the 3-LP set affordable to their fans, accepting lower royalty rates so the price would be as low as a single LP.

The Clash - "Sandinista!" And you thought The Clash was Punk. Listen again. This 3-album 1980 follow-up to their 1979 ground-breaking "London Calling" double-LP shows the depth, range, vast multi-cutural influences and writing styles of The Clash. The 36 tracks contained within "Sandinista!" illustrate further document the influences upon The Clash, and why - 25 years later - thier fan base continues to grow.
If you liked ANY of The CLash's earlier albums, you'll like this one - too. Submitted by aardvark2 (Tidewater, Virginia, VA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The very best Clash album!!! Although London Calling was a masterpiece Sandinista without a doubt is the ultimate Clash album. The people that downplay it have never really absorbed it as I have. I have it on vinyl from way back, I went throught it twice on cassettes and 3 times on CD. It is my all time favorite album! Submitted by REDCalifornia (Orange, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

If punk rejected pop history, LONDON CALLING reclaimed it, albeit with a knowing perspective. The scope of this double set is breathtaking, encompassing reggae, rockabilly, and the group's own furious mettle. Such a combination might seem over-ambitious, but the Clash accomplish it with swaggering panache. Guy Stevens, who produced the group's first ...

| | Neil Young On The Beach CD (1974) Remastered
Sandinista! album
$8.79 After working his way through loss and chaos on the brilliant TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT (recorded in 1973, but not released until 1975), Neil Young deftly exorcised any lingering demons with 1974's ON THE BEACH. The album opens with the saunter of the aptly titled "Walk On," followed by the utterly gorgeous, Wurlitzer-tinged "See the Sky about to Rain."
The set also features a trio of scathing songs--"Revolution Blues," "Vampire Blues," and "Ambulance Blues"--that address issues important to Young, both social and personal. It is good to hear Young back with ...

| | Rupert Hine Waving Not Drowning CD (1982) (Import)
Sandinista! CD music
$20.39 Waving Not Drowning, released in 1982, was Rupert Hine's fourth solo album and followed the 1981 masterpiece Immunity. This time around, Hine settled for less daring studio work and a more direct approach. The piano takes center stage, relegating synthesizers to background atmospheres. It makes this set of songs closer to Peter Hammill's solo material from that period (although better produced and with an enhanced pop attitude). Waving Not Drowning marks a transition between its more disturbing predecessor and the rather colorless The Wildest Wish to Fly (1983). "Dark Windows," "The Sniper," and "The Outsider" are still artistically crafted songs and the album conceals numerous ...
