Photographer: Chris Buck. For their first full-fledged major-label album, the Derailers teamed with producer Dave Alvin -- a legend in Americana circles -- and crafted another fine, straight-ahead country record in Full Western Dress. The group never makes any apologies about being an unabashed traditionalist honky tonk group, equally comfortable with twangy Bakersfield, gritty honky tonk, and western swing. It's easy to spot the group's influences, from Buck Owens to Dwight Yoakam (or even the Beatles on the Merseybeat singalong of "Just to Spend the Night With You"), but the key to the record's success is that the Derailers never become mired in tradition, they simply play the music as if it was still vital and relevant, which is exactly what makes it vital and relevant. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the 12 songs are all very strong, whether they're covers or new originals that sound as if they're classics. It's a classy, inspired release that is much stronger and more charming than the average Americana release. ~ Stephen Thomas ErlewineEntertainment Weekly (10/22/99, p.91) - "...with its Orbison-esque chorus and shadowy dread, gives the Mavericks an eclectic run for their money." $7.69 Patty Loveless breaks the Nash Vegas mold. She's living proof that talent -- God-given and well-tended -- is enough to keep listeners' attention over the years. Loveless worked hard to get where she is by consistently offering solid records, full of fine material and passionate, true performances. Dreamin' My Dreams is no exception, in fact;, it may be a crowning achievement in a career full of them. Produced by husband Emory Gordy and Justin Niebank, the set features 12 tracks by writers as diverse as Richard Thompson (the stunning, rocking opener "Keep Your Distance"), Steve Earle (a fine reading of "My Old Friend the Blues"), Allen Reynolds (the wonderful title track), Delaney Bramlett ("Never Ending Song of Love" with Dwight Yoakam as a duet partner), and Gordy (who wrote "Big Chance" with Loveless and "When I Reach the Place I'm Going" with Joe Henry), just to mention ...

$7.99 “This rap music is my life. I live and die for this.” This, do or die reality is exactly what Imani “Trust” Christian demonstrates to the world with his poetic yet unorthodox style and cadence on the Soulja Story Muzic debut release “Nobody’s Angel: Lifetime as the Don Trust. Trust is an artist who’s music is founded in life experiences and observations. From title track “Nobody’s Angel” – his professed love to a significant other to “9 2 Fo” a look into his once lived alternative to the 9 to five lifestyle eked out by the majority of society. Bouts with the law and incarceration, to homelessness to intellectual and emotional growth, it’s all here. Trust has successfully turned his South Central Los Angeles life occurances into a plethora of provocative stories and anecdotes – disturbing and ...
