$13.49 The Donnie Darko story....Michael Andrews knew Jim Juvonen from way back. Juvonen knew that his friend was a name to watch and was an interesting musician and writer who could bring something to the movie. Michael had co-scored the Ben Stiller movie Zero Effect with The Greyboy Allstars, and worked on the music for hip TV show Freaks And Geeks. But he had never done a score entirely on his own. In early 2000, Juvonen gave Michael a copy of the script for the as-yet-unmade Donnie Darko. As had happened across Hollywood, Michael was blown away by Richard Kelly's idea. "Everyone knew Donnie Darko was going to be a cool movie," Michael recalls. "Everyone knew it was interesting." Kelly, for his part, was aware of Michael's work with The Greyboy Allstars, a soul-jazz-funk ...

Suk: Summer Tale, Fantastic Scherzo / Mackerras, Czech Po
$13.39 ABOUT THE "LIVE" CD: "Not many of us left of the old school, but they don't come any better than Big George Brock." After this brief testimonial by 80-year-old Sonny Payne of Helena, Arkansas' famed King Biscuit Time radio show, Big George Brock tells the packed house that he's "here to please you, not to tease you." Then, he goes on to prove it throughout this brand-new, hour-long live album — the much heralded follow-up to Brock's Blues Music Award-nominated "Round Two." After 67 years of singing blues and playing harmonica, 75-year-old Brock IS the blues. Best known for his high-energy, "step-back-in-time" live shows, it's fitting that Brock recorded this incredible concert performance on the eve of his 75th birthday at world-famous Ground Zero Blues ...

Suk: Summer Tale, Fantastic Scherzo / Mackerras, Czech Po
$15.45 This is a Super Audio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players. Anonymous 4's 2004 album American Angels, a collection of folk and gospel songs that stood in contrast to the a cappella group's usual focus on ancient and classical vocal music, was a major hit, reaching the top of the Billboard classical chart and selling a reported 80,000 copies. Surprisingly, Anonymous 4 picked this moment to announce that they would no longer be a full-time entity. Nevertheless, two years later, they are back with Gloryland, a follow-up to American Angels containing "Folk songs, Spirituals, [and] Gospel hymns of Hope & Glory." There are, however, changes. The group has wisely brought in two instrumental accompanists, Darol Anger on violin and mandolin, and Mike Marshall on guitar, mandolin, and mandocello, and given them co-billing. And the part-time nature of the foursome is reflected in the carefully delineated performing credits, which show that all of them ...
