| A voice as beautiful as a medowlark This album is great! I love the fact that Sarah's work on hear is not typical of the normal Lloyd Webber work she usally does. I love Meadowlark, Lud's Wedding, and the cleverness of the Three-Cornered Tune. This is a must have album for any Sarah Fan. By a reviewer (Lakewood, WA) |
| These are Good Songs! How did they get Away! This CD has songs that for some reason or another were cut from shows. While they are unfamiliar, many are quite good and you will wonder how they could have been left out of their productions. Meadowlark is captivating and Mr. Monotony is very clever. You won't be disappointed by this collection. Many are gems. By captdennis (Charleston, SC) |

| A VERY WONDRFUL ALBUM The album THE SONGS THAT GOT AWAY is from 1989, when Sarah and Andrew Lloyd Webber were married. Andrew is producer and it was his idea to record the songs. The beautiful songs are from musicals.1. MEADOWLARK a beautiful song about a bird and a blind girl, who get her sight.2. I AM GOING TO LIKE IT HERE+12. AWAY FROM YOU by Richard Rodgers. Sarah sings the songs so beautiful. Sarah has sang Richard Rodgers songs before in CAROUSEL from 1987.3. I REMEMBER, a very beautiful song. Here you can hear how much Sarah’s voice has improved – if you listen to songs on albums recorded after 1996, Timeless, Eden, La Luna and Classics.4. MR. MONOTONY by Irving Berlin. Sarah is so talented - her voice is so warm and bright - no matter what style she sings: opera, musical or pop. Here she sings jazz/swing – and her voice is amazing.5. DREAMERS, 6. SILENT HEART, 10. | A Most Welcome Reissue This is an excellent collection of theatre songs, beautifully sung by Sarah Brightman, who displays the range and versatility of her voice. Some of the numbers are operatic in nature, others (such as "I Am Going to Like It Here" from Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Flower Drum Song," are pieces originally written for singers with limited vocal range. Remember that Ms. Brightman recorded her version of "Meadowlark" before it became the frequently-recorded staple that it has since become. Her rendition of this great Stephen Schwartz song is still one of the best, and beautifully demonstrates Brightman's rarely heard high belt. Marvin Hamlisch's "Dreamers" is a gem, definitely one of his best compositions. The Bock and Harnick song "What Makes Me Love Him?" from "The Apple Tree" is perfectly suited to what we might identify as Brightman's "typical" style. This CD is a must-have if you are a fan of Sarah Brightman and/or theatre music. By a reviewer (Cranston, R.I.) |
