| | Brave Combo Group Dance Epidemic CD Brave Combo Discography of CDs
This 1997 release by Brave Combo finds them celebrating the wide array of group dances that have come in and out of fashion over the years. There's "The Hokey Pokey" (in both a rock style and a go-go style), "The Bunny Hop" (complete with some sly musical jokes), "Limbo Rock/Hand Jive," and "The Hustle." "The Mexican Hat Dance," makes an appearance, as does a sailor dance rendition of "Never On A Sunday" and a schottische version of Merv Griffin's "Jeopardy" (actually titled "Thinking Music" and used during that all important round of Final Jeopardy on the TV game show). Brave Combo even came up with one of their own in "The Jeffrey" (named for their multi-instrumentalist Mr. Barnes). Fun and funny throughout, GROUP DANCE EPIDEMIC is a winner.
Recorded at Inside Track Studios, Denton, Texas.
Brave Combo: Carl Finch (vocals, guitar, keyboards, accordion); Jeffery Barnes (vocals, woodwinds, harmonica); Bubba Hernandez (vocals, bass); Danny O'Brien (brass); Alan Emert (drums); Joseph Cripps (percussion, background vocals).
Additional personnel: Nikki Nolen (vocals); Mike Dillon (timbales).

| | Emmylou Harris Ballad Of Sally Rose CD (1985)
Group Dance Epidemic album
$11.19 This is one of the most intriguing albums of Emmylou Harris' career, and that is saying a lot. It marked the first album where she wrote or co-wrote all the songs, and the strength of the songwriting makes one wonder why she had never attempted it before. One can tell that this album is truly a labor of love, as it is a semi-autobiographical concept album that she also co-produced. It tells the story of a girl from a small town who gets taken under the wing of singer that takes her (and her angelic voice) out on the road. (The story mirrors her relationship with Gram Parsons, although it is a fictional account of the life of another woman.) As a concept album, it only partly holds together; one must read the liner notes to get a true feeling for the story. However, Emmylou Harris sounds particularly inspired, and the songs themselves are strong both musically and lyrically. As expected, she truly shines on the slower ballads such as "Diamond in My Crown" and the closer "Sweet Chariot." While not essential for casual fans, it is an ...

| | Bryan Ferry Bride Stripped Bare CD (1978)
Group Dance Epidemic music CDs
$15.15 A concept album of sorts, inspired in part by Brian Ferry's highly public breakup with supermodel Jerry Hall, THE BRIDE STRIPPED BARE features songs whose view of romance is, unsurprisingly, a tad bleaker than previous. The singer's persona here is less lounge lizard than the sort of guy who drives around L.A. in the rain ("Can't Let Go"), hoping to wipe out on Dead Man's Curve.
A strong batch of originals is on offer here, which, thanks in part to guitarist Waddy Wachtel, lean more toward the West Coast studio rock of Jackson Browne or Warren Zevon than is usual for Ferry. There are also a couple of covers that reinforce ...
