| | Goldfinger Stomping Ground CD Goldfinger Discography of CDs
(6 Customer Reviews)
This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
Goldfinger is basically a ska-punk band, but it's not afraid to just be a punk band, either; in fact, it can sound disarmingly like both Husker Du (squalls of Bob Mould-ish feedback) and Green Day (engagingly melodic). It's not afraid of heavy metal either, as witness the ferocious riffing on "Bro," or lead singer/writer John Feldman's declaration in "The End of the Day" (a rant against an obnoxious speedfreak scenester) that "if I want to play metal that's all right with me."
Feldman's lyrical persona throughout the album is that of somebody continually ticked off by the people around him. Incidentally, that small sub-species of humanity who clamored for a revival of the music of '80s New Wavers Nena will be pleased to learn that there is a respectful, if oddly Zepplin-esque remake here of that band's international hit "99 Red Ballons," including a verse or two auf Deutsch.
"""Ori Release 2000 Third official album from LA Ska-Punk quartet includs a cover of Nena's """" 99 Red Balloon """"."""

Stomping Ground songs
$6.95 It only makes sense that a generation of middle-class white kids who (to make a broad generalization) often find their refuge from humanity in entertainment -- whose psyches are saturated with sarcastic sitcom one-liners, celebrity gossip, and overexposure to niche marketing -- would produce bands like Nerf Herder. Like their debut album of Weezer-esque post-grunge punk-pop, the band's sophomore effort How to Meet Girls is approximately half an hour's worth of the goofiness and smart-alecky cynicism you'd expect from aforementioned media-junkie types. It's all jokey and willfully disposable, of course, and while the band makes vaguely self-deprecating references to being sexually unappealing geeks, it's all taken to a ridiculous extreme, ensuring that nothing serious is ever really addressed. That isn't necessarily a bad thing -- whoever said good music had to be serious? ...
| | Ataris Blue Skies, Broken Hearts...Next 12 Exits CD (1999)
Stomping Ground album
$11.29 Santa Barbara's Ataris were among the legions of pop-punk bands to emerge in the late 1990s. Like many of their contemporaries, the Ataris owe something of a debt to the Descendents and the Buzzcocks, but a large part of their sound comes out of the alternative rock of the '90s. BLUE SKIES, BROKEN HEARTS...NEXT 12 EXITS is the Ataris sophomore effort, and the band avoids the notorious second-album slump by cranking out 14 high-energy, concise tunes rife with hooks, power chords, and hopped-up rhythms.
While the Ataris know how to rock (only the acoustic guitar and cello duet of "My Hotel Year" deviates from the slashing electric guitars and pummeling bass and drums on this set), they also demonstrate an emo-influenced sensitive-guy side. "1.15.96" chronicles the story of a relationship, and "Your Boyfriend Sucks" is--despite its comic title--an anguished confession of unrequited love. The Ataris back their tales of romance with plenty of muscle (note the triple-time assault of "Broken Promise Ring)" and occasionally ...

Stomping Ground CD music
$12.05 This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
This young pop-punk quartet might seem to be following in the steps of such bands as Blink 182, but they bring something of their own to the table on ALL KILLER NO FILLER. Though much of this album is occupied by bratty, post-Green Day melodic punk with the occasional, reverential nod to old-school punk rock ("Nothing on My Back"), Sum ...

| | Super Chron Flight Brothers Th Emergency Powers CD (2007)
Stomping Ground CD music
$11.79 There is certainly a reason that the Super Chron Flight Brothers are named as such: their debut full-length, Emergency Powers, is laced heavily with drug references, many of which are not particularly hidden (songs are called "Dirtweed" and "Panama Red," for example). But the duo is much, much more than a couple of stoners stumbling lazily over beats. Instead, Priviledge and Billy Woods prove themselves to be talented rappers, able to write and deliver intricate, intelligent rhymes that reference pop culture, societal and political problems as well as weed. ...
