| | Marty Robbins No. 1 Cowboy CD Marty Robbins Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
Obviously, the main focus of No. 1 Cowboy is Marty Robbins' classic gunfighter ballads and cowboy-themed songs from the '60s and '70s. Originally recorded for Columbia, these 20 tracks have a quality that can't be denied: "Red River Valley," "Streets of Laredo," "Ballad of the Alamo," and, of course, "El Paso" and "El Paso City." This release from the TeeVee label is fine, but Columbia offers a vast array of solid discs encompassing the full spectrum of Marty Robbins hits; these easily available discs provide better sound quality, liner notes, and graphics. ~ Al Campbell
Includes liner notes by Chuck Young.

No. 1 Cowboy
$10.39 In seemingly random order, GOLD contains fourteen of Abba's twenty American hits (the remainder are on MORE ABBA GOLD); which is to say, it contains fourteen of the most delectable pop productions of the '70s and early '80s. "Dancing Queen," "Waterloo," "Knowing Me, Knowing You" and the other landmarks of upbeat melancholy are complex concoctions--all layered harmonies and brilliant keyboard arrangements. These songs don't easily fit into any pop timeline, which may be why Abba received much of their acclaim long after breaking ...

| | Brooks & Dunn Greatest Hits Collection CD (1997)
No. 1 Cowboy
$9.99 A greatest hits collection is almost a redundancy for this chart-topping contemporary country duo, since nearly everything they touch turns to gold (if not platinum). Nevertheless, this compilation condenses the band's catalog, including three brand new tracks, into 19 sparkling gems of country-pop, bound ...

| | Wumpscut Bunker Gate 7 CD (1997)
No. 1 Cowboy
$13.29 Originally titled Bunkertor Seven, this is the second release from Wumpscut, following two years after 1993's acclaimed Music for a Slaughtering Tribe. Unlike many industrial dance acts, Wumpscut is definitely progressing, with main man Ratzinger taking cues from all forms of electronic and dance music, not just the dark and gothic stuff. Certainly the album is tinged throughout with gothic overtones, but the driving beats on songs like "Mortal Highway" are a lot more innovative ...
| | Valerie Carter Wild Child CD (1978) Japan
No. 1 Cowboy
$25.55 Wild Child, Valerie Carter's 1978 follow-up to her debut Just a Stone Throw's Away, was clearly designed to broaden whatever audience she may have had gained in the prior year. Really, she didn't make that big of an impact in 1978 -- the debut peaked at 1982 and spent five weeks on the ...

No. 1 Cowboy
$17.19 Voice like a bell. Songs with teeth. Annie Moscow's music goes straight for the mid-life jugular with her gut-wrenchingly-crafted songs about disillusionment and awakening. Each song is it's own story, culminating in an emotional rollercoaster ride; taking the listener from the delicate impressionistic "Dried up and Dying" ("All my friends are... ") to the rollicking, in-your-face strands of "But the Bitch a Cadillac." All the songs are written by Annie Moscow. Her music has been compared to Jacques Brel, Leonard Bernstein, Joni Mitchell and Billy Joel. Produced by Steve Gold. Powerful. QUOTES & REVIEWS:Moscow delivers a dynamic musical and theatrical performance, drawing audiences through a myriad of emotions with her songs of personal awakening.GREATER PHOENIX CONVENTION & VISITOR'S BUREAU (feature story) 2/2002If you're looking for a more mature take on life's relationships, consider Annie Moscow. While her influences range from Bartok to Billy Joel, from musical theater to punk, it is the Sturm and Drang of midlife that gives Moscow's music its power. Sage Dillon, PHOENIX NEW TIMES 2/2002"New artists, like poet/pianist Annie Moscow, are quietly connection with their audience by sharing a vulnerability that often startles us ...
