$7.89 Full of pride, Cassiopeia compares her daughter's beauty to that of Hera. Angered, the queen of the gods has Poseidon unleash the monstrous beast Craken to destroy their village unless Cassiopeia's daughter, Andromeda, is sacrificed. Perseus, the son of Zeus, becomes enchanted with the breathtaking beauty and is determined to save her from this fate. The young hero, armed with a magical shield, a winged stallion and a mechanical owl, discovers the only way to defeat the monster is with the head of Medusa. The gods watch and intervene on Perseus' quest to save his beloved.
This was legendary special effects wizard Ray Harryhausen's last film before he retired from creating movie magic. L.A. LAW's Harry Hamlin stars as the Greek mythological hero Perseus who fights snake-haired Medusa and two-headed dogs to save the lovely Andromeda (Judi Bowker). Laurence Olivier, as Zeus, is one of the many screen legends in this adventure. Burgess Meredith, Claire Bloom, Maggie Smith and Ursula Andress round out the cast as the Gods of Mount Olympus.
Director Desmond Davis was camera operator on TOM JONES and A TASTE OF HONEY, two influential early 1960s British films. Writer Beverly Cross was one of the writers on 1963's Ray Harryhausen film, JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS.

SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON is a refreshingly old-fashioned and gentle tale of a mustang stallion struggling to remain free in the old West. The film is a seamless blend of traditional hand-drawn and computer-generated animation. Opening with an impressive bird's eye pan of the Grand Canyon, from the viewpoint of an eagle, SPIRIT captures the unspoiled beauty of the land. The animals in this particular animated film do not talk, and Matt Damon provides effective, sparse narration from the perspective of Spirit, an adventurous young stallion who is captured by the U.S. Army. But Spirit will not let the soldiers saddle and ride him. An authoritarian colonel (voiced by James Cromwell) is determined to break Spirit, at one point starving the horse to weaken him. A Lakota prisoner, Little Creek (voiced by Daniel Studi) is impressed with the horse, and helps him to escape. Little Creek can't break the horse either. But the two learn to respect each other, and Spirit meets Rain, Little Creek's horse, and falls in love. The score was written by Hans Zimmer, and Bryan Adams wrote and performed the sweet, simple songs on the soundtrack. SPIRIT is a great-looking and lovingly crafted children's film.

Warlock review
$8.05 The final movie in Larry and Andy Wachowski's MATRIX trilogy is THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS. Toning down the romantic and philosophic elements of the second film in the series, THE MATRIX RELOADED, this third installment focuses on action. Neo (Keanu Reeves) is trapped in limbo between reality and the Matrix, while Zion, the last human city, is attacked by hordes of machines. Meanwhile, Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), and Seraph (Collin Chou) confront the ruthless Merovingian (Lambert Wilson) to secure Neo's release. As the fight for Zion grows more dire, Neo and Trinity embark on a perilous journey into the heart of the machine city, while Morpheus and Niobe (Jada Pinkett Smith) rush to Zion's aid. Eventually, Neo must face the increasingly powerful Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) in a last battle for the fate of humanity. Highlights of the film include Niobe's thrilling spaceship piloting, the armored battle for Zion, and Neo's inevitable brawl with Smith, all of which feature amazing special effects. In the midst of the adventure, there are a few quieter moments--such as Neo's Beckett-like wait for the train back to reality--that intriguingly punctuate the proceedings. A fast-paced ending to an epic trilogy, REVOLUTIONS proves once again why the MATRIX series is revered by its dedicated fans.
