This 105 minute feature film is a DVD starring Charles Dan ce, Sheryl Lee, Laila Robins, and Colin Lance. Philip Haas's third feature film, THE BLOOD ORANGES, is based on the 1972 erotic cult novel by John Hawkes. Sumptuous blood oranges are only part of the tropical allure of the idyllic Mediterranean setting where Cyril (Charles Dance) and Fiona (Sheryl Lee of TWIN PEAKS fame), a sexually liberated American couple, have taken up residence. Accustomed to extramarital affairs, they eagerly invite another couple, Hugh (Colin Lane) and Catherine (Laila Robins), who are vacationing in the area with their children, to their small villa for some adulterous fun and games. They even allow Hugh, who is a photographer, to take pictures of their erotic activities. But when a dark secret involving their two guests is unexpectedly revealed, Cyril and Fiona's utopia of free love is threatened. Bernard Zitzermann's engaging cinematography adds visual flair to this steamy tale of sexual excess and obsession.
This sultry drama by the director of ANGELS AND INSECTS takes place in the early 1970s in a small Mediterranean town, where Cyril and Fiona, an American couple, are residing in a rented villa. Both are proponents of free love, and when they make the acquaintance of Hugh and Catherine, a photographer and his wife vacationing in the area, they don't hesitate to incorporate the newcomers into their sexual routine. This arrangement soon backfires, however, forcing the two couples to realize that there is a price to be paid for sexual recklessness.

$10.29 With MALÉNA, Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore spins a romantic coming-of-age yarn about love, loss, and courage. Set in 1941 in a tiny village in Sicily, the film focuses on a group of 13-year-old boys who fall madly in love with Maléna (Monica Bellucci), the wife of a local soldier. One of the boys, Renato Amoroso (Giuseppe Sulfaro), a dreamer who yearns for freedom from his war-bound village, revels in the exquisite beauty of the enchanting newcomer. He becomes her shadow, following her through the cobble stone streets and spying on her most intimate moments, overwhelmed with romantic longing for the first time. Maléna has a magical spellbinding effect on the male villagers; her presence inspires fantasy and escape from their daily lives. But the women of the village, hardened by war, are quick to judge the nubile outsider. Maléna becomes the focus of desire and seething jealousy in the town and she is eventually forced to face the female villagers in a bittersweet climax. Reminiscent of Federico Fellini's ...

$5.75 Lawn Bowls may not be the most popular sport in the world, but for Cliff Starkey it's his number one passion in life. With an interminable life spent toiling away in a dead end office job, Cliff finds a release in Lawn Bowls, something which he's excelled at since a little kid. Although the elderly Bowls don't take kindly to Starkey and his unorthodox methods, he soon hooks up with an agent, and adds a touch of rebelliousness to the sport. With an adoring set of female fans and a reckless lifestyle, Starkey revolutionizes Lawn Bowls, but faces some stiff professional competition as he rises through the ranks. Blood Oranges film
$11.79 In the near future in a Paris, France, made of Plexiglas, aerodynamic steel beams, and rainslicked surfaces, a sinister plot unfolds: it's one honest cop (voiced by Daniel Craig) against an evil corporatocracy, corrupt scientists, and the mob, as he uses his wits and grit to rescue a brilliant, beautiful female geneticist who has been kidnapped. What he learns on his rescue mission challenges his most hard-boiled preconceptions about who's really running things.
Christian Volckman's first feature film is rendered in astonishing black-and-white "motion capture" animation that continually yields inventive and subtle visual surprises--car chases take on cosmic proportions, cigarette smoke engulfs an entire room like a lovely wraith, and the already beautiful Parisian skyline becomes a dizzying, jeweled spectacle. A descendent of classic science-fiction tech-noir like BLADERUNNER, Volckman's film envisions the near future as a cold and heartless place where corporations are supreme and surface beauty is everything; whole scenes are constructed from reflections in nighttime windows, mirrors, and other shiny expanses, and false (but pretty) facades are created to confuse and imprison characters. This constant emphasis on empty, backwards images supports Volckman's seeming disgust with society's preoccupation ...
