This is a 100 minute feature film DVD. This is a compelling portrait of a young boy's resilience while growing up poor in a small town. A sensitive, uncompromising portrait of a resilient young boy trying to navigate the loneliness and confusion of adolescence and the harsh circumstances of his dysfunctional family life in a small blue collar town in upstate New York during the 1970s. Whaley's first directorial effort shows his inexperience at various moments, but it is this exact lack of expertise that lifts the film above standard coming-of-age fare into a realm of honesty that most major motion pictures never attain. The fact that the friends he recruited to help fill integral roles just so happen to be Kilmer, Hawke, and Leguizamo didn't hurt matters either. $10.05 Bobby Kent (Nick Stahl) is not a nice guy. He beats up his "best friend" Marty every chance he gets, he abuses Marty's girlfriend Lisa, and he rapes Lisa's friend Ali. From director Larry Clark (KIDS) and screenwriter David McKenna (AMERICAN HISTORY X) comes this gruelling thriller based on the true story of Bobby Kent, a bossy Florida teenager who was beaten to death by a group of his peers.
There isn't a lot to do in the suburban Florida town that Bobby and his "friends" inhabit. They play violent shoot-em-up video games, they work at the Pizza Hut, they go surfing at the beach, and they cruise in their hot rods. But mostly, Bobby and his friends have lots of sex. The film is drenched in graphic shots of barely legal naked teenagers. (This has been Clark's favorite subject matter since his days as a photographer, as illustrated in his 1997 book TEENAGE LUST.) Sexual identity is an undercurrent in Bobby's story: he watches gay porn while he rapes Ali, and he forces Marty to dance with him at a gay club. Some of the other teenagers think that Bobby and Marty are a couple. But this is a minor issue. They decide to kill Bobby because ...

$16.79 This disturbing drama, showcased at Sundance 2003, stars Emile Hirsch (THE GIRL NEXT DOOR) as Duncan Mudge. A troubled teenager, he struggles both to relate to his father (Richard Jenkins) after his mother's death, and to accept his homosexuality after developing a crush on Perry (Tom Guiry), a macho neighbor. Clearly suffering, Duncan falls into a world of his own, becoming more and more detached from his emotionally distant father. Duncan takes to putting the head of his pet chicken in his mouth, which seems to calm him more than the chicken. In addition to this odd behavior, he begins to wear his mother's clothing. ...

$14.99 Felicity Huffman leaves the glamor of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES behind and makes a surprising diversion with this offbeat film. Playing an uptight male-to-female transsexual named Sabrina "Bree" Osbourne (née Stanley), Huffman gives a remarkable performance. Readying herself for the final snip that will make her womanly transformation complete, Bree's life takes a sudden turn when she receives a phone call from New York. Her son, Toby (Kevin Zegers), has been jailed, and Bree needs to post bail for him. The only problem is, Bree didn't know she had a son, but ...

$9.69 A thriller riddled with paranoia and distrust, Klaus Menzel's FASCINATION is an acute study of a man stretched to breaking point by an egregious set of circumstances. Scott Doherty (Adam Garcia) is both stricken and confused when his mother, Maureen (Jacqueline Bisset), announces the tragic death of his father, who drowned during a curious boating mishap while the couple was on vacation. The incident seems highly irregular to Scott due to his father's considerable athletic prowess. But Scott's eyebrows are raised even further when his mother returns from the trip with a new beau on her arm in the shape of the dashing Oliver Vance (Stuart Wilson). As the newly entwined couple make astonishingly speedy wedding plans, Scott looks on ...

$8.85 Genius of mystery and intrigue Christopher Nolan (MEMENTO, FOLLOWING, INSOMNIA) helms this prequel to the Batman films based on the DC Comics series, explaining how Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale)--the billionaire prince of Gotham whose parents were killed in an alleyway mugging--transformed into the crime-fighting superhero. With flashbacks to his privileged childhood, young Master Wayne, as he is called by the butler Alfred (Michael Caine), develops a terrible fear of bats when he falls through the backyard garden into a hidden cave. As a young adult, Wayne lives among the League of Shadows, a martial arts group in the mountains of Asia. His leaders Ra's al Ghul (Ken Watanabe) and Henri Ducard (Liam Neeson) teach him strength, endurance, and--unfortunately--evil, against which he naturally rebels. Returning to Gotham and reinstating himself as a dapper socialite and the rightful heir to his parents' enterprise, Wayne quickly devises his secret identity, commanding help ...
