Great Family Movie I forgot how enjoyable this miniseries was when it was on tv. If you are looking for something that you and your kids can sit down an enjoy together this is it. MY kids enjoy this just as much as I do. Since we have received it in the mail we have watched it about 30 times and it is still enjoyable. Submitted by cindywill2343 (Edmonton. $7.69 Jess Franco (VAMPYROS LESBOS) returned to the director's chair after a two year sabbatical to film this movie, which stars the Spanish punk group The Killer Barbies. A touring group on a budget, the Barbies' van unfortunately breaks down in the middle of nowhere, leaving the group stranded. A couple of the band members go off to find help and end up running into countess Von Fledermaus, a witch who feeds on the blood of young men. Franco, the king of trashy exploitation sleaze, takes a time honored plot and actually adds a new twist, namely the musical numbers by ...

$21.49 This documentary, presented by Jonathan Demme (STOP MAKING SENSE), paints a low-key, entrancing portrait of African guitar legend Boubacar Traore, known to his countrymen as Karkar, a musician who regularly stirred the spirits of listeners on the radio and the dance floor during the early 1960s after Mali achieved independence. Unfortunately he never received royalties, and had to work other jobs to support his family. With the death of his wife, Traore wen to Paris to work as a laborer and disappeared from the music scene for decades until he was rediscovery by European music fans. The documentary includes plenty of interviews, but it's mostly songs; old ones encouraging the Mali youth to band together and work to build their new country, and new ones affirming his Muslim faith and mourning the loss of loved ones. They're all poignant and breathtakingly lovely, and he plays them to spellbound African locals as he visits various parts of his homeland. A performance in a celebratory concert serves as the grande finale. Filmmaker Jacques Sarasin contrasts photos of Karkar and other young Africans celebrating ...
