Herzeleid album Product Description
Rammstein's first album was about what was to be expected from a bunch of Germans who happily grew up on everything from Skinny Puppy to Depeche Mode to Laibach and back again, not to mention plenty of skull-crushing metal straight up. Precisely brutal and often brilliantly arranged -- the band aren't per se inventive, but they bring everything together to make something astonishingly radio-friendly out of something that isn't necessarily -- Herzeleid in particular is the logical conclusion of KMFDM's self-referential electro-metal. The band freely invokes its own name throughout the way that group did in its songs -- the final tune is called "Rammstein," to top it all off -- and the riffs readily connect the dots between the older band's clipped guitar bursts and their even more compressed nu-metal equivalents. The swaggering sass and stomp of "Wollt Ihr das Bett in Flammen Sehen" makes for a near-perfect start, and from there the band merrily -- without a smile on its collective face -- has a great, loud-as-hell time. ...See Full Description

Classic Metal I don't know German but these guys wanna make me learn it after hearing their album. German is perfect for Heavy Metal, it's rough and tough. Songs like "Heriate Mich" and "Rammstein" are definitely influencial. A Metal Classic. By a reviewer (Kingsville, Tx)

Seminal album If you are a fan of any of the 'new wave' metal bands then this album is a must for your collection. Although sung in german the lyrics and passion cross all barriers. Give all of there albums a listen, you will not be dissapointed By tonyberic (London UK)
Rammstein is Rammstein, but not up to their potential Don't get me wrong, I love the band and they have some brillian moments on this record (Auche zu Auche, Wolt ihr das bett in Flammen Sehen), but I find that the tempo lags on most songs to the effect of draining some of the firery Rammstein energy from the album. If you love Rammstein, pick up the cd, but if you're only mildly interested, Senschect (sp?) is probably more what you're looking for. By a reviewer (Atlanta GA)
Music to conquer worlds by! Gothic uber-metal of the first order. As a long time fan of what I term "crunch metal" (e.g. selected early Judas Priest, Black Sabbath's "Symptom of the Universe") this album was a revelation. One of the best mixed albums I've heard for a long time, no one element of the music overpowers the rest. Vocals come thru clearly, basslines are well delineated, the drums are solid and "there", especially the kick drum, and I love the relentless distorted heavy guitar riffs. Sounded even better after I upgraded my speakers. My one concern with this CD is that one day I am going to drink too much beer, play it too loud, and blow up those nice new speakers - it's that kind of album. Favourite track "Wollt ihr das bett in flammen sehen", it just ROCKS. I also bought "Mutter" and "Live aus Berlin" but Herzeleid is my favorite. If you are a HEAVY metal fan you must listen to this CD! By The Black Vegetable (New Zealand)
