Corin Tucker(Sleater-Kinney)
Cadallaca: Corin "Kissy" Tucker (vocals, guitar); Sarah "Dusty" Dougher (vocals, organ); Junior aka STS (drums). Personnel: Corin Tucker (guitar). Liner Note Author: Calvin Johnson. Recording information: Jackpot Studios. Photographer: Neilson Abeel. Cadallaca, in the same vein as fellow Pacific Northwesterners Bikini Kill and Sleater-Kinney, writes bare-bones pop songs using a Farfisa organ, electric guitar and a simple drum kit. Their debut, Introducing Cadallaca -- ten short bursts of raw grrrl power -- shows the band is capable of rocking out on tracks like "June-n-July" and "Two Beers Later." Cadallaca also demonstrates a softer side on the R.E.M.-ish "Pocket Games" and "Winter Storm '98." Each song manages to find a haunting, organ-driven groove despite the lack of bass, while the folksy elements entice through cleverly intertwined vocals. The three members work in other bands: Sara Dougher plays organ in the Crabs, Corin Tucker plays guitar and sings in the currently hot Sleater-Kinney, and oddly named sts plays in the Lookers. Overall, the side project lacks consistency, but Introducing Cadallaca gives hints of what could be if the trio sticks together. ~ Matthew Hilburn
CMJ (11/09/98, p.23) - "...Using electric guitars, drums and farfisa organ as its base, the album's shambling rock 'n' roll takes equal inspiration from 60's garage rock and indie punk....kicking ass all the way..." Introducing Cadallaca Music Introducing Cadallaca Songs | 1. | Your One Wish |

| | Sleater-Kinney Call The Doctor CD (1996)
Introducing Cadallaca
$11.85 Sleater-Kinney's masterful sophomore effort 'Call the Doctor' (Chainsaw) fulfills all the promise of the group's debut and more, forging taut melodicism and jaw-dropping sonic complexity out of barbed-wire emotional potency. Released in 1996, this ain't no sophomore slump record. Includes 'I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone'.

| | Heavens To Betsy Calculated CD (1994)
Introducing Cadallaca
$12.59 Heavens To Betsy: Corin Tucker (vocals, guitar, drums); Tracy Sawyer (guitar, bass, drums, background vocals). Recorded in Seattle, Washington between November 30 and December 3, 1993. Personnel: Corin Tucker (vocals, guitar, drums); Tracy Sawyer (guitar, drums, sound effects). Recording information: Seattle, WA (11/30/1993-12/03/1993). Editor: Gloria Anzaldúa. Photographers: Tiffany Clendenin; James Bertram. Before her days in Sleater-Kinney, Corin Tucker was belting out screams with her riot grrrl duo, Heavens to Betsy. Along with drummer and bassist Tracy Sawyer, Tucker crafted 12 songs of pissed-off, bitter confusion. As with much material in the genre, the lyrics focus on failed relationships and the hurt feelings having emerged as a result. However, one glaring exception is the song "White Girl," which is a rare introspective ...

| | Sleater-Kinney Hot Rock CD (1999)
Introducing Cadallaca
$13.49 Sleater-Kinney: Corin Tucker, Carrie Brownstein (vocals, guitar); Janet Weiss (drums). Additional personnel: Roger Mutenot (slide guitar); Seth Warren (violin, viola). Recorded at Avast Studio, Seattle, Washington in July 1998. Audio Mixer: Roger Moutenot. Recording information: Avast Studio, Seattle, WA (07/1998). Expectations for Sleater-Kinney's fourth album were stratospheric, with the raging, tuneful feminist catharsis of Call the Doctor and Dig Me Out having garnered near-universal critical raves and outlandish media hype. Afraid of falling into a predictable rut, though, the band bravely pushed its range of expression into more personal, subdued, and cerebral territory on The Hot Rock. That means the record isn't quite as immediately satisfying as its two brilliant predecessors, but it does reward those willing to spend time absorbing its nervy introspection and moodiness. Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein push relentlessly for more complex interplay, both in their vocal and instrumental work; even the gentlest songs might break ...
| | Big Star Best Of CD (1992) (Import) Remastered; United Kingdom
Introducing Cadallaca
$13.15 This 14-track Big Star compilation draws songs from the revered power-pop group's initial two records, including "September Gurls," "In the Street," "Thirteen," and "Watch the Sunrise." Remastered. Since Big Star's first two albums, #1 Record and Radio City, are easily available on a two-for-one-CD, the wisdom behind compiling a best-of CD that draws only from those two LPs has to be questioned. This doesn't have anything from Third (aka Sister Lovers), or from the live and reunion discs, and it doesn't add any unreleased tracks. Even if there's any price difference staring you in the face when you come across these side-by-side in the CD racks, do you really need to save money ...
| | Countdown Best Of Disco CD (2001) (Import)
Introducing Cadallaca
$6.85 Best of Disco may indeed feature some of the best songs from the disco era such as "Le Freak" and "I Love the Nightlife" -- no one will argue with that. But similarly, no one will argue with the fact that these are quite frankly horrendous cover versions of those classics. As you may have guessed, yes, the Countdown Singers have again taken a stab at recreating classic late 20th century pop music, ...
