Bruford's first foray as a solo artist, minus the baggage of Yes and King Crimson, is an unqualified delight from start to finish. FEELS GOOD TO ME is a broad encapsulation of the multitude of styles to which Bruford had been so far exposed in his illustrious career.
FEELS GOOD TO ME is the furthest thing in the world from just another drummer's solo album. With one foot in jazz and one in rock, this is fusion with nary a pretentious note. The progressive song stylings of the idiosyncratic "Back to the Beginning," the tricky time signatures, vibraphone clusters and spacey synth textures of "Beelzebub," and the Gong-like prog fusion of "Sample and Hold" reveal Bruford as a deft arranger bursting with ideas and eager to smash boundaries.
Recorded at Trident Studios, London, England in August 1977. Includes liner notes by Richard Williams.
Personnel: Bill Bruford (drums, percussion); Annette Peacock (vocals); Allan Holdsworth (guitar); Kenny Wheeler (flugelhorn); Dave Stewart (keyboards); Jeff Berlin (electric bass).

Bill Bruford Feels Good To Me Songs Feels Good To Me Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Classic Prog-Fusion Well, to clarify, this album IS as good as his second in its own, jazzier way and BETTER than his third. And Brand X's John Goodsall only contributed barely audible guitar on one track. This was Bruford's first personal step outside of big arena rock bands and he composed it painstakingly on piano, note by note. It's a great combo of rock, Brit progrock, and sort-of lite jazz elements - in balance - with often tight execution. My only complaint was that Holdsworth's often majestic crucial guitar fills sound almost suppressed - like they were recorded in a tiny closet and it's a strain just to hear them - dock one star for that. But overall not a bad accomplishment for the drummer of Yes's Roundabout days and King Crimson. Fans, say, of Weather Report, ELP, or Mahavishnu predominantly instrumental music might get into this - give it a chance and it'll likely hook you. Feels great to me! This is the incredible debut album of premier progressive rock drummer Bill Bruford back in 1977. This music -mostly composed by Bruford himself- has aged so well over the years... Graced by the extraordinary musicianship of Dave Stewart, Allan Holdsworth, and Jeff Berlin (with wonderful contributions of Kenny Wheeler and Annette Peacock on two tracks) this is a bomb from beginning to end! Can't miss this one!!! Submitted by Robert (Miami, FL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
bill bruford's first solo l.p. though not as good as his following two albums, this was an outstanding transition for the former drummer of yes & king crimson.his collaboration with the superb keyboardist dave stewart made for some of the best progressive rock of the 1970's. BRUFORD's FUSION RULES!! With Holdsworth and Brand X's Goodsall riffing away on with fiery fusion guitars and the sexy-sultry Annette Peacock speak-sing vox spicing it up too -- what more can you ask for? If you dig fusion you NEED this release!

Feels Good To Me album
$8.95 The music of Brand X borrows more from prog rock than jazz, although there's plenty of room for improvisation within the group's extended arrangements. Collins drives the band mercilessly throughout tracks like the opening firestorm "Nuclear Burn" and the rocking "Smacks of Euphoric Hysteria." John Goodsall's guitar is the primary melodic element in most works, alternately ...
| | Brand X Moroccan Roll CD (1977)
Feels Good To Me CD music
$9.45 "Why Should I Lend You Mine (When You've Broken Yours Off Already)à" isn't as goofy as it sounds; it's 10-plus minutes of furious guitar riffing mixed with probing drums, ruminative Fender Rhodes, synth fills, and a mosaic of engaging rhythms. "Disco Suicide" is a slice of highbrow, British jazz-funk. But at the epicenter of all this is the superb "Malaga Virgen," with Collins whipping up a percussive ...
| | Hatfield & The North Rotters' Club CD (1975)
Feels Good To Me music CDs
$9.19 Hatfield and the North's second LP stands as a high watermark for the prog rock associated with England's Canterbury scene and, while filled with stunning musicianship, demonstrates both the strengths and some of the weaknesses of the Hatfield style. Dave Stewart on keyboards, Phil Miller on guitar, Richard Sinclair on bass and vocals, and Pip Pyle on drums (supplemented by a few guest instrumentalists and the ever-ethereal Northettes with their "la la" backing vocals) generally show an admirable sense of restraint and, like their Canterbury peers, are careful to avoid the pomposity and bombast of better-known prog rockers of the era, such as Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Yes. But the Hatfields might actually have been light to a fault, particularly whenever a segue from one of their convoluted instrumental passages into a Richard Sinclair vocal vehicle occurred. Sinclair shares a bit of Robert Wyatt's singing approach, or at least Wyatt's more whimsical side, but his polite and mellow croon, while pleasant, is less idiosyncratic and ultimately rather bland. And, don' t look for much importance from the songs' nearly empty lyrical content; perhaps this was another conscious attempt to steer clear of the pretentiousness ...

| | Bill Bruford Bruford Tapes CD (1980)
Feels Good To Me album
$10.69 This live date from 1979 captures one of drummer Bill Bruford's pre-Earthworks groups in a dynamic performance. Although the broadcast tape used for this disc may not have been the best quality, the performance of this powerful ensemble of fusion masters transcends any audio deficiencies. Included in the group with the legendary British drummer are bassist Jeff Berlin, keyboardist Dave Stewart, and guitarist John Clark. Together, lead by Bruford's always-unique drumming, they make a good argument for the existence of the oft-maligned "electric" jazz of the '70s.
Tracks like the boisterous opener "Hell's Bells" and the exceptional ...
| | Gonzalo Rubalcaba Inner Voyage CD (1999)
Feels Good To Me CD music
$12.79 INNER VOYAGE was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Performance, Individual Or Group.
As the title suggests, Gonzalo Rubalacaba's INNER VOYAGE is a disc that finds the Cuban-born pianist digging deep within himself to bring out his most intimate performances on a series of very personal works. The focus here is on very peaceful, elegant ballads and lightly swinging numbers, along with the occasional fiery Latin piece--of course--on which Rubalcaba offers some of his most thoughtful playing. On most tunes he exhibits a gracefulness and sense of space not unlike the great Bill Evans. The trio of Rubalcaba, bassist Jeff Chambers, and drummer Ignacio ...
