| | MVP Vintage Soul, Vol. 2 CD
An R&B salad bar with selections culled from the '50s and early/mid-'60s. Straight rhythm & blues by James Brown ("Why Do You Do Me Like You Do"), the Drifters ("Ruby Baby"), and Little Richard ("Try Some of Mine") mix with the Impressions' haunting "Gypsy Woman," Barrett Strong's "Money That's What I Want," and Dionne Warwick's understated "Walk on By." The rest are time-tested classics as well, including the Platters' "Great Pretender," Dinah Washington's "What a Difference a Day Makes," and Etta James' soulful, definitive reading of the standard "At Last." ~ Andrew Hamilton MVP Vintage Soul, Vol. 2 Music MVP Vintage Soul, Vol. 2 Songs | 1. | What a Diff'rence a Day Made - Dinah Washington |

MVP Vintage Soul, Vol. 2 album
$11.99 Barry White's ALL-TIME GREATEST HITS contains the original single versions of his classic solo hits, as well as two songs White performed as the lead vocalist of the Love Unlimited Orchestra. All tracks were previously released on the 20th Century Records label.
All tracks digitally remastered by Gary Mayo (Polygram Studios).
It took quite a while for a definitive Barry White compilation to hit the market, but All-Time Greatest Hits -- part of Mercury's Funk Essentials series -- finally filled the bill in 1995. Boasting a full 20 tracks from White's heyday of 1973-1978, more than half of which made the R&B Top Ten, All-Time Greatest Hits is easily the most generous single-disc White collection on the market. It includes the edited single versions, not the full-length album tracks, which actually makes for a more digestible introduction to ...

| | Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra Love Supreme CD (2005)
MVP Vintage Soul, Vol. 2 CD music
$10.05 Few arrangers have attempted to score John Coltrane's landmark suite A Love Supreme for good reason: it is very difficult to stand up to the emotional impact of the composer's original recording. But Wynton Marsalis ambitiously dove into scoring it for the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra for this Palmetto CD. The results are rather uneven. In spite of the best efforts of the participating musicians, the solos often prove to be a distraction, leaning more toward humor than sticking to Coltrane's message. The most ridiculous section occurs in the opening movement, "Acknowledgement," when the baton is passed from one player to the next as they take turns playing the brief cadence of the well-known A Love Supreme vamp, which quickly ...

MVP Vintage Soul, Vol. 2 CD music
$14.79 Question: What happens when a musician from the baby-boomer era with two daughters finds himself and his wife in an empty house for the first time in over twenty five years? Answer: He turns one of the bedrooms into a studio and starts recording! At least that was the answer Jim Carter came to. With both of his daughters out on their own, the oldest in New York working as the stage/house manager at Julliard School of Performing Arts, and his youngest, recently graduated from St. Andrews College in North Carolina, Jim decided that it was time to “go for it” one more time!So he has just released his first album “Daydreamer”. According to Jim, “It’s as if Barry White and Elton John had a baby! Now that would be “sick” and “wrong”, but it does describe my vocal style and the type of music I’ve chosen for this CD. It is a combination of covers and originals performed with a touch of my own personal \"weirdness\" thrown in.\"Jim, in his early years, was a successful Singer/Actor/Musician with a long and solid list of performance credits, including a national tour with the Broadway show “Hair”, performances at Radio City Music Hall and as an opening act for names such as Helen Reddy, Red Buttons and Jose Feliciano. Then his wife, now of 32 years, made the big announcement, “Jim, I’m having a baby!” “So I had to make a ...
