Live album
$7.19 YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK If... is taken from Jeff Foxworthy's two Showtime Comedy specials.
YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK IF "you've ever been too drunk to fish" or "the UFO hotline limits you to one call per day" or "your dad walks you to school because you're in the same grade." Some of Jeff Foxworthy's stand-up comedy seems to reach below the belt of good ol' country boys and girls, but he's really just laughing at himself, which is to say he's laughing at the kind of guy who thinks Texas is "where people talk normal." Foxworthy talks normal by those standards, and for most of his routine he makes observations about the usual subjects like being single and being married, but with backwater twists.
His are men who think loading the dishwasher means getting their wives drunk; women who do 99 percent of the cleaning but "are not as proud of their 99 percent as men are of our one"; men who would pay good money -- "ten bucks!" -- to watch birds eat rice and explode. If you buy this record, you're probably a redneck, but you'll understand it even if you're not.
While Jeff Foxworthy's classic 1993 breakthrough record may on the surface seem a one-note LP to cash in on the Southern comic's catch phrase, YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK IF. showcases one of the most clever standups of the `90s. Foxworthy's sneakily witty rant on how the Southern drawl plays with the language is a minor comedy classic, and his observations on being single, and so broke he's "rolling pennies for gas," are plain universal. And, yes, the ...
| | Jeff Foxworthy Greatest Bits CD (1999)
Live CD music
$12.69 Jeff Foxworthy isn't just a comedian, he's a phenomenon. In the '90s, this Nashville comic came to unprecedented fame with his satire of Southern life, particularly of the folks he constantly (if lovingly) refers to as "rednecks." His "you might be a redneck if..." shtick lampoons the most outrageous aspects of trailer-park life as well as the everyday occurrences. GREATEST BITS gathers its tracks from Foxworthy's previous four albums, providing an excellent introduction to his work.
Foxworthy is careful to identify with the targets of his humor. Anytime he refers to his beloved rednecks, he's always careful to say "we" instead of "they." It's this identification (along with his natural comic talents) that helped him to connect in such a big way with the masses who made him a multi-platinum-selling ...

Live CD music
$12.59 Principally recorded live at the Indiana University Auditorium, Indiana.
BIG FUNNY was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Comedy Album.
Jeff Foxworthy's first album for DreamWorks, Big Funny, is also his first standup record not to rely heavily on redneck-themed material. Of course, Foxworthy doesn't completely abandon it, although he does seem to acknowledge that it's time to move on in the title of the bit "I Thought I'd Heard Every Redneck Thing"; there's also a hilarious, well-done impression of stock car driver Jeff Gordon, mimicking how difficult it is to understand any comments given in post-race interviews. But for the most part, Foxworthy concentrates on family life, gently and good-naturedly poking fun at gender differences in marriage and the pitfalls of child-rearing. It's subject matter that's been covered many a time, but Foxworthy's droll delivery will make Big Funny well worth the time of his fans. ~ Steve Huey

| | Sibling Revelry: The Best Of The Smothers Brothers CD (1998)
Live music CDs
$7.65 Though it's difficult many years after the fact to hear exactly how the Smothers Brothers managed to offend so many people in the early '60s, their cutting wit and irreverence remain as bracing as ever. With Dickie as the ever-patient "serious" folksinger and Tommy as the childlike dullard who does his best to upset the proceedings, the brothers managed to slyly poke fun at anything and everything without ever resorting to the direct attacks of lesser talents.
Employing a stream-of-consciousness disregard for the status quo that predated and ...

$9.59 I go by "SANTOS". I chose to use my last name because of how powerful it is. In Spanish Santos means "SAINT" and I definitely bless the microphone gettin my power from God. Im a Puerto-Rican Emcee, this is not a Spanish album however. I record @ Level 4 Recording Studio in Philly. My style is pure, relying on lyrics to send my message. In my album you will hear me praising Hip-Hop, Women,Family,God,and any true artist that makes real music. Im tryin to restore the days when music meant something, instead of "I HAVE A CHAIN, AND I HAVE 24 INCH RIMS". I just want to make people dance, party, and have a good time without no ...
| | Butter 08 Butter CD (1996) Digipak
Live album
$9.69 Butter 08 is an all-star lineup of indie rockers from Cibo Matto, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and Skeleton Key. The first album from this alternative supergroup, BUTTER, culls from the diverse talents of its various members and has a sound that's as unique as it is unified. For the most part, kitsch is the name of the game here, straddling the categories of loungecore, punk, and rap with great ease; the recording sessions must have been a blast.
Highlights include the angry white girl metal rap "9mm," a snickering poke at nostalgia in "Butter of 69," and "How Do I Relax," already a loungecore classic, complete with swirling organs, a bossa nova chorus, and eerily distorted vocal samples. "Mono Lisa" betrays the same lo-fi leanings that characterize the recordings of the Blues Explosion, benefiting from both Russell Simins excellent and frenzied guitar work and sensual vocals from Cibo Matto's Yuka Honda, who's sexy even (especially?) when she shrieks. Butter 08 is a natural team.
