| | Cream Goodbye CD Cream Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
After less than 3 years in existence, and some 15 million albums sold, GOODBYE was Cream's farewell release. Baker, Bruce and Clapton indicated at the time that they were burned out on the concept, the touring, the improvisational "battles," and each other. The live cuts ("I'm So Glad," "Politician" and "Sitting On Top Of The World") are indicative of how the band's concert chemistry had evolved from earlier live recordings (such as those on WHEELS OF FIRE and LIVE CREAM, VOLUMES 1 & 2).
But what's most striking about GOODBYE is the charm and craftsmanship of their last studio tracks, indicating that Cream was far from played out creatively, and illustrating how strong their songwriting skills really were. The Beatles' influence is readily apparent on each studio track, the most famous being Clapton's "Badge," featuring George Harrison. Bruce's "Doin' The Scrapyard Thing," with its mixture of funk and the English music hall, points to the directions he would pursue on SONGS FOR A TAILOR and his other underrated solo albums, while Baker's use of odd meters on "What A Bringdown" anticipates "Do What You Like" on BLIND FAITH.

| | Cream Wheels Of Fire CDs (1968) Remastered
Goodbye music CDs
$15.09 Originally released as a 2-LP set, half live, half studio recordings.
When Cream released WHEELS OF FIRE, they had established themselves as the premier blues-rock band due to the success of their first two albums and the extraordinary chemistry between the band's members. As a result of this synergy, Cream also enjoyed a fiery live reputation. This double album represents both sides of Cream's musical personality. The first record is a studio job, where the band mixes originals with covers of Howlin' Wolf ("Sitting on Top of the World") and Albert King ("Born Under a Bad Sign"). The songs written by the band all contain unique touches. "As You Said" finds Jack Bruce swapping his bass for a cello, "Pressed Rat and Warthog" sounds like an English folk tale courtesy of Ginger Baker's ...

| | Grooveyard Jenn'll Tell Ya CD (2002)
Goodbye music CDs
$16.49 Funky, edgy, jazzy, sophisticated.... oh, and did we forget to mention over the top powerhouse funk band!?! Combine the elements of R&B, jazz, soul and an innate Pop-savvy sensibility, and you have arrived at the musical core which is Grooveyard. Fronted by super sultry vocalist Jenn Dashney and comprised of some of the most promising musical talent the Northwest has to offer (ensemble of award winning jazz-trained players from the famous Mt. Hood community college music department). Grooveyard is a group that has been turning heads ever since their inception in 1998. While staying true to their roots of jazz, soul and R/B music, this Portland-based band has managed to put an exciting new twist on otherwise forgotten styles making their music a truly unique and engaging hybrid.Grooveyard represents what is new and refreshing in pop music. The music appeals to young and old alike, while powerful, funky and very danceable, there is an intelligent approach to composition and musicianship not often seen in a group this young. The name Grooveyard is synonymous with deep funky dance grooves, as well as thrilling, over-the-top live performances. With this, it's easy to see why they have become one of the consistently top drawing acts in Portland clubs such as Jimmy Mak's, The Goodfoot Lounge, and Billy Reed's, among many others. TabletNewpaper.com writes, "Grooveyard digs their heels into the floor and forces the funk on ya...Don't miss them ever." Jam Magazine writes, "Lead singer Jenn Dashney's voice wraps itself around the jazz/funk melodies in a love liquid embrace, oozing sexuality in naughty clever phrases and soulful, teasing lyrics." Think Ella Fitzgerald with Duke Ellington (if he played jazz guitar!) conducting his big band behind her big voice. Now, substitute the modern edge of Gwen Stephanie if she was backed by Tower of Power and you get an idea of the fresh sound that Grooveyard invokes. Grooveyard's debut album, playfully titled "jenn'll tell ya," was recorded over the last year at Sound Impressions Studio with engineer Dan Decker. The album showcases twelve original cuts that display a wide musical diversity, combining elements of funk, jazz, R&B, hip-hop and Latin flavors to arrive at a polished, powerful and contemporary sound. "People always ask me what style of music we play," says Dashney. "And after almost five years with Grooveyard, I still can't tell you." Their R&B/funk influences can be heard on tunes such as "So Serious" and "Inspire Me" while "Blues for David" highlights the band's flair for Latin pop. "Pitiful State" and the ballad "Stop at Nothing" (which features free-styles by Hungry Mob's Mic Crenshaw) showcase the band's hip-hop savvy. Booking themselves silly for four years and counting, the group's profile has ...
| | Just Because I'm A Woman: Songs Of Dolly Parton CD (2003)
Goodbye songs
$15.05 Despite her numerous accomplishments as a performer, actor, and all-around media mogul, Dolly Parton has often said that she views herself primarily as a songwriter. JUST BECAUSE I'M A WOMAN goes a long way towards highlighting the craft of Parton's extraordinary songs. Unlike some cash-in tribute albums, this disc showcases artists who clearly love and respect the music in question, making for a record that bears no trace of crass commercialism.
Most tracks on the album strip the songs down to their bare ...
