After Dark album for sale Product Description
After Dark album for sale by Andy Gibb was released Jan 13, 1998 on the Polydor label. After Dark found Andy Gibb beginning to run out of steam. The album was very similar stylistically to its predecessor, Shadow Dancing, but it didn't have as consistent a set of songs. Nevertheless, there were a number of fine moments on the record, including the singles "Desire" and "I Can't Help It," that made it worthwhile for dedicated fans, even if it was clear that Gibb's career would not be able to survive in the post-disco era. ...See Full Description

| ANDY WASN'T AFRAID OF THE DARK Andy was a talented musician in his own right. True, he only co-wrote two songs on the album-but each and every one of those songs is unmistakably Andy Gibb. Yes, he was the youngest of the 4 Gibb Brothers, but by no means should he ever be referred to as "the 4th Bee Gee". Sadly, this was the last album he would ever record, but fortunately for us all, technology allows us to enjoy the "Words and Music" of Andrew R. Gibb By a reviewer (Connersville, IN) |
| WHEN THE BEE GEES WERE 4 Great. The best one. Don't say Andy. Say THE BROTHERS GIBB. Leading Andy, and sometimes Barry in Duets. This album must be re-named: AFTER DARK - The New Bee Gees. By xparellada (Barcelona / Spain) |

Paulson Variations CD (2004)
After Dark songs The full-length debut by New Jersey's Paulson is a bit of a puzzler at first, but a couple of listens reveals how the group mixes seemingly disparate influences into a surprisingly cohesive whole. Paulson is first and foremost an emo band taking its cues from the likes of the Cave In and Hum, but unlike those bands' dozens of imperfect clones, they manage to ring some changes on the increasingly tired soft-LOUD-soft dynamic. Most interestingly, there's an undeniable jazz influence, in the manner of some of the Chicago post-rockers, to songs like the mostly instrumental "Diaryland" and a lengthy deconstructed cover of "My Funny Valentine." Elsewhere, the layers of keyboards and heavily processed guitars, not to mention the occasionally tricky time signature shifts that underpin songs like "Optimism Is for Stupid Idiots," bring the band deeper into math rock territory. The combination of Mike Smeen's synthesizers and Logan LaFlotte's admirably non-whiny vocals gives Paulson an unusual sound compared to most of their emo compatriots, and the songwriting on Variations is strong enough to suggest even better things to come. ~ Stewart Mason
